I have a feeling we’re going to learn Vance is the saboteur in all of this, leaking information and manipulating Trump for Russia’s benefit.
I tend to agree with this and the hands up Vance’s pucker hole originate in Silicon Valley. Those tech oligarchs see Russian concentration of wealth as a step towards their tech statism. They do not want to see the defeat of the closest version of their utopia.

They're all a bunch of GD traitors... but hey, a true capitalist has no country.

This is all such a predictable shitshow. Trump is so determined to "make a deal" that he's just swinging wildly between the two poles, with no actual progress being made. He'll talk to the Russians and come up with a peace plan that's an absolute nonstarter for the Ukranians. Then he'll meet with the Ukrainians and modify the peace plan in a way that's an absolute nonstarter for the Russians. Rinse and repeat.

The reality is that, barring a major change to the status quo, Russia will never agree to a plan that's acceptable to Ukraine, and Ukraine will never agree to a deal that's acceptable to Russia. The only way that changes is if one side or the other gets a significant military advantage. But instead of doing things that could give such an advantage to the non-genocidal side in this fight, Trump is threatening to remove the support that has been maintaining the status quo.

In short, all of this "dealmaking" is a waste of time. The only way a deal gets done is if things change significantly on the front lines. And Trump's policies are making it far more likely that such a change will benefit Russia, which is counter to the interests of the rest of the world.

When we as a nation elect someone as deeply compromised and as compromisable as St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago, it is very predictable that foreign entities are going to blackmail that person for their own advantage and to the disadvantage of the United States. St. Donald is who and what every person in America knows him to be. And we still elected him, . . ., twice. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of Donald Trumps in America. We as a people didn't have to one of them, . . .,TWICE, . . ., but we did. As such, we as a people deserve everything that compromised piece of horse excrement rains down upon us.

Ukraine's citizens have shown heroic resolve in their resistance to Russia's military force. They understand that their very sovereignty is at stake.
Trump, OTOH, doesn't care what happens to Ukraine. He only wants credit for brokering an end to the war, no matter who comes out ahead.
Putin isn't going to be deterred except by the prospect of a humiliating military defeat. He's fighting a war of propaganda at home.
So far, Russia has suffered economically from the attrition of war. However, there are countries like India still buying his oil. The stalemate hurts him, but still not enough.
His aggression in the past resulted in successfully annexing Crimea. He won't stop with redrawing the lines here either. He'll find another excuse to advance again. Withdrawing support now would be a disaster. Europe will have to take up the slack and Russia will slowly keep advancing.
If Ukraine starts winning back territory, then Putin has a reason to negotiate. A dictator hungry for power and territory can't be pacified. He has to be punished.
