Like liar's poker with a dollar billI understand, the way Russians play poker is to raise-and-bluff then raise-and-bluff, and if that hadn't worked, just repeat.

I think we may have noted this before, but perhaps we crossed paths. I was in Fulda for Reforger '86 and again in Wurzburg for Reforger '88.When I was in the Army in Germany, I noticed German Army trucks were much higher off the ground than were American Army trucks. Once while on joint maneuvers, I asked German NCO why their trucks were so far off the ground. He said, "The next time we go to Russia, we aren't getting stuck in the mud."
I was a little over a decade before you. But I did participate in Reforger exercises in the mid-1970's. Local soldiers were recruited to drive the "umpires" around because, (a) we had military licenses, (b) we were familiar with German roads, (c) we knew the area, and (d) we weren't participating in Reforger. And in the case of the Fulda Gap, that was an area I was very familiar with. The Fulda Gap was where my unit would have deployed to, in case the "ballon had gone up." It was the area where we did 100% of our field training.I think we may have noted this before, but perhaps we crossed paths. I was in Fulda for Reforger '86 and again in Wurzburg for Reforger '88.
Or make that a trip to Eastern Europe i.e. Russia.Trump's version of American foreign policy is bullyball. Might makes right.
This could lead to a sizable shift in stances towards America. Y'all might want to go to on that trip to Europe sooner rather than later.
Food kinda sucks in RussiaOr make that a trip to Eastern Europe i.e. Russia.
From the link:Instead of supporting an ally, we're trying to bully them into an economic deal that would be crippling for their country, and emboldening Russia and other autocracies in the process. This is the problem with Trump's view of international diplomacy as boardroom deal making. The goal in international diplomacy isn't just to extract the best terms out of your negotiating partner; it's to build the relationships and alliances that help ensure world peace. We will rue the day when America started to tell its allies that it doesn't care what happens to them.
Anne Applebaum writes well about it here:
