The history books are going to have to be revised to show Russia won the cold war.

MAGA World should be so proud of this accomplishment.
It is sort of like the Rebels in the USA holding out over years and decades to regain power after the U.S. Civil War military hostilities ended via terrorism (like lynchings and the KKK) and political power used to establish apartheid of Jim Crow, eventually leading to national political power.

In both cases, there was a clear victor of the Civil War and the Cold War. But the bad guys keep fighting and the victors tend to be exhausted by the fight.

The biggest learning moment from both is that Americans don't have learning moments.

Nothing at all disingenuous about my comments. Just reading this board is proof of that. You have people on here who have expressed their desire to see trump dead. Not a single one of you want to see trump succeed. If you want proof of that all one has to do is read the board and experience all the TDS. Are you saying this board wanted to see trump get this deal done? That would be completely contradictory to the comments put here every day and you would be lying.
It’s not a matter of not wanting Trump to succeed. I want the country to succeed, not Trump’s vision for the country. If Trump and his band of corrupt incompetents succeed in implementing the Trump agenda, that means our nation has failed.

That was my reaction, as well.

Trump lost his cool because he realized that Z was not going to lay down and give him a chance to match Obama by winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

For Trump it's not about a just peace or even mineral rights; it's all about the Nobel, and he had a temper tantrum when Z threw cold water on his Nobel plans.

[Baker describes Zelensky’s lack of diplomatic instincts or willingness to soothe egos versus pragmatic blunt talk about being the leader of a country under siege]

“… But what was particularly striking in their exchange was how much Mr. Trump seemed insulted on Mr. Putin’s behalf. He has long been an open admirer of Mr. Putin and has rarely offered any criticism of his own. Just this week, he called Mr. Putin “smart” and “cunning,” and declined to call him a dictator even after calling Mr. Zelensky that.

“You want me to say really terrible things about Putin and then say, ‘Hi, Vladimir, how are we doing on the deal?’” Mr. Trump told Mr. Zelensky on Friday. “It doesn’t work that way.”

… “You see the hatred he’s got for Putin,” Mr. Trump said with a tone of indignation as cameras recorded the exchange. “It’s very tough for me to make a deal with that kind of hate. He’s got tremendous hatred. And I understand that. But I can tell you the other side’s not exactly in love with him either.

He came back to Mr. Putin and the Russia investigation again near the end of the session, describing the Russian leader as if they had bonded through a shared ordeal.

Putin went through a hell of a lot with me,” Mr. Trump said. “He went through a phony witch hunt where they used him and Russia, Russia, Russia, Russia.”

The affront to Mr. Putin seemed to stick with Mr. Trump. By evening, hours after tossing Mr. Zelensky out of the White House, Mr. Trump stopped to talk with reporters as he left for a weekend in Florida and again outlined his grievance with the Ukrainian president.

He’s got to say, ‘I want to make peace,’” Mr. Trump said. “He doesn’t have to stand there and say about, ‘Putin this, Putin that,’ all negative things. He’s got to say, ‘I want to make peace.
”“
Hahaha! Yeah, I’m sure Vlad was just a nervous wreck throughout the Mueller investigation.

Not even close to the first time this week. Trump berated GOP congressmen and women to get them to vote for his ridiculous budget resolution. He’s just a massive bully and it doesn’t matter if the target is a congresswoman from his own party or the leader of a nation under assault.

I wish Trump would spend less time worrying about the Nobel Peace Prize and more time bringing down the price of eggs. After all, that is why we voted for him...you know, to bring down the price of eggs on day one ?

Trump wants Europe to pay more. I don’t think for a minute he wants them to take a decision making role. He wants their money, not their opinions.
I think there are decisions like should Poland give arms and munitions to Ukraine where Trump wants to make all the decisions. But if Russia is going to start threatening Poland, it's not going to matter what Trump wants. It's going to matter how strong Poland's military has become as well as the strengths of Poland's allies. And the answer to that is much stronger than it was 10 years ago thanks in large part to their defense spending that Trump has encouraged.

That's why I always felt it was pretty dumb to think that Trump was some kind of Russian plant doing everything Putin wants. The last thing Putin wants, maybe after support for Ukraine, is more military spending in Europe. Especially Germany which is exactly what Trump has been pushing for a decade.
