Sen. John Kennedy: America is paying the price for Biden's appeasement

Amazing the headline they got that interview is Bidens appeasement to blame. Trump has been softer than baby shit with Putin.

Putin announces unilateral three-day ceasefire in Ukraine from May 8

“Russian President Vladimir Putin has unilaterally declared a three-day ceasefire in Ukraine from May 8-11 to coincide with World War II commemorations and called on Kyiv to do the same, the Kremlin said Monday.

The Kremlin said the decision was based on “humanitarian considerations” and a truce would be held from midnight on May 7-8 to midnight on May 10-11 to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory Day and the defeat of Nazi Germany. …”

Uh.........FOX has hidden the real significance of these comments with its headline. This Republican Senator claims we are in a knife fight with Russia, and that Putin has disrespected and jacked Trump around at every turn.

Wonder if Trump has heard this news?

Rubio Says Trump Will Decide This Week on Continuing Ukraine War Talks

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said there are reasons to be optimistic, but also asserted there are “other issues” on which the administration wants to spend its energy.

“… This week will be “very important,” Mr. Rubio said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

“We have to make a determination about whether this is an endeavor that we want to continue to be involved in or if it’s time to sort of focus on some other issues that are equally if not more important in some cases.”

“But we want to see it happen,” he added. “There are reasons to be optimistic, but there are reasons to be realistic of course as well. We’re close, but we’re not close enough.”

Mr. Rubio did not give further details of the state of the talks.

It was not clear if the timeline he offered was meant to pressure Ukraine and Russia to agree to enter direct discussions toward a deal, or whether President Trump and his aides were seriously considering walking away. …”

Who actually wants the US to be involved in the peace negotiations, other than Putin perhaps. Like, is this a threat or an inducement?
I think keeping the line open with Trump allows Zelenskyy to occasionally land benefits of the “last person trump talked to” phenomenon. Trump is a Russian asset, not just a sympathizer, IMO, that said, his narcissism overrides any other motivator/alliance. I think it’s likely Zelenskyy is slowing Trump fully supporting Russia’s invasion, by occasionally lavishing him with compliments and inducements (ie the mythical minerals deal).

Promises broken...

During his 2024 presidential campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly claimed he could end the Russia-Ukraine war within 24 hours of taking office. He suggested that a single phone call to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would suffice to broker peace, emphasizing his personal rapport with both leaders. In one instance, he stated, "That is a war that’s dying to be settled. I will get it settled before I even become president." (AP News)
