Who actually wants the US to be involved in the peace negotiations, other than Putin perhaps. Like, is this a threat or an inducement?
I think keeping the line open with Trump allows Zelenskyy to occasionally land benefits of the “last person trump talked to” phenomenon. Trump is a Russian asset, not just a sympathizer, IMO, that said, his narcissism overrides any other motivator/alliance. I think it’s likely Zelenskyy is slowing Trump fully supporting Russia’s invasion, by occasionally lavishing him with compliments and inducements (ie the mythical minerals deal).

Promises broken...

During his 2024 presidential campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly claimed he could end the Russia-Ukraine war within 24 hours of taking office. He suggested that a single phone call to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would suffice to broker peace, emphasizing his personal rapport with both leaders. In one instance, he stated, "That is a war that’s dying to be settled. I will get it settled before I even become president." (AP News)

I think this is close to what the peace treaty is going to end up. I doubt Russia will get recognition of the annexation, but they will keep the land like Crimea. I don't see demilitarization as realistic. No one is trusting Putin not to invade and Russia won't accept a Western force on their doorstep. I think they could probably fluff the nazi stuff by arresting a couple of the ultra nationalist party leaders, but if Russia is going to expand the definition of Nazi to Zelinsky and his party, I suspect the war will go on. And I don't think Ukraine would ever agree to the last one, although in some ways that is the easiest to agree to and ignore after the treaty is signed.

I don’t think Trump is a Russian asset. He’s far too effective and competent for him to actually be trying to do this. It would be thing he’s best at in the world. He’s Just a useful idiot

Say what? Who would arrest them? On what charges?
The Ukraine government. They arrested opposition politicians on treason charges. They arrested priests on collaborationism charges. They arrested a journalist for justifying the invasion of Crimea. I suspect they can find a charge or two to arrest a few hard right politicians.

“… The journalist Viktoriia Roshchyna was captured in the summer of 2023 near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station. It was at least her fourth reporting trip into the occupied territories. She was by this stage of the war the only Ukrainian journalist prepared to risk crossing the frontline in order to pierce the information blackout imposed by Russia.

Roshchyna died after a year in detention, aged 27.

Information on the circumstances of her death is limited. Roshchyna was held without charge and without access to a lawyer. During her detention, her only known contact with the outside world was a four-minute phone call to her parents, a full year after she was taken.

Preliminary forensics suggest “numerous signs of torture”, according to the prosecutor. Burn marks on her feet from electric shocks, abrasions on the hips and head, and a broken rib. Her hair, which she liked to wear long and tinted blonde at the tips, had been shaved.

Sources close to the official investigation have also disclosed that the hyoid bone in her neck was broken. It is the kind of damage that can occur during strangulation. However, the exact cause of death may never be known because when her body was returned during the exchange on 14 February, certain parts were missing, namely the brain, eyes and larynx. …”
