“… Macron said he, fellow European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy held a call with U.S. President Donald Trump after their summit and U.S. contributions to the guarantees would be finalised in the coming days.…”

Coming days -… as in two weeks?

“President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia warned on Friday that Western forces would be “legitimate targets” if they arrived in Ukraine before a peace agreement was reached, directing a threat at European leaders a day after they said they were willing to send troops to secure a deal.

Mr. Putin also said it would be “practically impossible” for him to reach an agreement with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine in a face-to-face meeting. He said he would still be willing to have such talks as long as they were held in Moscow, a proposal that the Ukrainians dismissed as a nonstarter.

The Ukrainian side wants a meeting,” Mr. Putin said at an economic conference in Vladivostok, in Russia’s Far East. “We are ready,” he said. “And the best place for it would be the capital of our country.”…”

“… Mr. Macron said that Western forces would be sent to Ukraine only after the fighting stopped — “the day after a cease-fire or peace.”

But Mr. Putin said on Friday that if any Western troops appeared in Ukraine “especially now, during the fighting, we assume that these will be legitimate targets.”

If they arrived afterward, Mr. Putin added, their presence “wouldn’t make any sense,” because Russia would respect “security guarantees, which, of course, must be worked out for both Russia and Ukraine.”…”

“…
Putin responded to those calls Friday. “If someone really wants to meet with us, we’re ready. The best place for that is the capital of the Russian Federation, hero-city Moscow,” he said at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, in Russia’s Far East. He said the Russian side would ensure security and good working conditions for the Ukrainian delegation:A 100% guarantee.”

Zelensky on Thursday said Kyiv had long supported the idea of a meeting between the leaders, but he dismissed the idea of it happening in Moscow, something Putin has previously suggested.

“Russia is doing everything to delay,” he said. “If you want a meeting not to happen, then you invite me to Moscow.

Kyiv says it has repeatedly foiled Russian attempts to assassinate Zelensky, whom Putin has previously characterized as a Western puppet and drug addict.…”

The Shahed drones do have a long range, but Russia's launch sites tend to be in the occupied territories or fairly close to Ukraine. I suspect, Ukraine is trying to push the launch sites further back by attacking Russian radar installations so these launch sites can be targeted. Which might also push Russian air launched missiles further away.
