Poland will invoke Article 4 of Nato to consult on response to threat, Tusk says

Tusk says Poland will invoke the Article 4 of Nato, requesting a formal consultation within the alliance, a move agreed between him and the president, Karol Nawrocki.

The article reads:

As per Nato’s records, Article 4 has been invoked only seven times since Nato was created in 1949 and last in 2022, in the immediate aftermath of the Russian full scale invasion of Ukraine.

But Tusk says while he appreciates all expressions of solidarity, “the words are not enough,” and Poland will request “a much greater” support from Nato allies.
Poland's other European allies will likely go along, but it will certainly be interesting to see what Putin-loving Dear Leader does in response to all of this.

Trump: “… it’s the only one, this, cause I’ve always had a great relationship with Putin, this is the only war [chuckles] that I haven’t solved. Now, let’s get into Gaza cause that’s gonna, that’s another one. So those are two that arrrre more [Kilmead interrupts] complicated. “

[Kilmeade - what is clamping down on Vladimir putin] Trump: “welll it’d be hitting very hard with on sanctions uhh to banks and having to do with oil oh and uh tariffs also. But I’ve already done it. I’ve done a lot. Look, India was their biggest customer, I put a 50% tariff on India because they’re buying oil from Russia. That’s not an easy thing to do. That’s a big deal. And it causes a rift with India, you know?

and remember this - this is a Europe problem much more than our problem.

The other thing I’ve done and Brian I know how you feel very strongly about it and a lot of people do and I understand that a lot of people don’t frankly, but we were spending three hundred and fifty BILLION dollars on a war that was across the ocean. Three hundred! Europe was spending a hundred billion it’s still a lotta money but it shoulda been equalized, at least equalized or they shoulda spent more, but I did something as you know. I went to NATI, great relationship with all of those NATo countries and I got them to raise from 2% to 5%. And then I go them to pay for anything that we, all of our costs now are being paid by NATO, so NATO is very rrr, you know they’re rich countries, and they’re now paying. We’re sending missiles and things to NaTO, NATO’s paying us and they’re distributing to where they want, which is in this case, uhh, Ukraine. Which is a big saving. That’s a big difference. We’re not spending.

[Fix dude looks at his watch] but you know what I wanna do? I want to stop if for a different reason cause now I guess you could say we make money I don’t wanna make money but we’re making money because I, but uh I wanna stop it because they’re losing six to seven thousand soldiers every single week. And they’re not American soldiers they’re Russian and Ukrainian soldiers. And some people in the towns. But the big numbers are the soldiers. They’re losing last week they lost 7 thousand and 18 soldiers, a little bit more Russia than Ukraine. But they both, you know? They’ve lost a million and a half soldiers fighting back and forth. I wanna stop it on a human basis, you know they’re souls, their Russian souls and Ukraine, they’re not American, but I just feel I have an obligation to do it. And that was the one I thought was gonna be the easiest of the seven and that turned out not to be, the toughest.”

Short version: Trump intends to do nothing meaningful to Russia and is using Putin’s tactic of issuing DOA demands to appear ready to act and to use to blame our European allies when he fails to act.

Missed this yesterday, which emphasizes how disingenuous his post today about Russian Sanctions if NATO “does as I say” really is:

Not to mention it's enforcing and advancing the talking point that it is Ukraine who is the aggressor against Russia
