Bill Maher has been vocal about his frustrations with the Democratic party for a long time. Given the results of the last election (specifically among black and Latino voters), along with recent polling, it seems likely that he has a point.
Blame NCK9.First of all, this seems to be on the wrong thread.
Nobody knows how to talk to the working class better than Bill Maher. That documentary he made, mocking their religions and putting them on screen to look like fools -- what a communicator!Good lord. It’s like some people think if Bill Maher gets quoted on this board EVERY FREAKING HOUR, he’ll somehow be more persuasive. We get it, folks. Bill thinks he knows what Dems need to do. He’s almost certainly wrong, but it’s not like his views are a mystery.

No he's not.He's right sadly.
This is a shockingly horrible comparison. Jews + nazis and working class + democrats, seriously???No he's not.
I mean, if only the Jews had found common ground with the Nazis. That's the same attitude as this crap.
The common ground part is the same. There is no common ground for MAGA. How do you find common ground with people that vote against their own best interests financially because they are blind with racism and bigotry? It's just sad that the majority of people in this country are racists, bigots, selfish, and/or plain stupid. This is a shockingly horrible comparison. Maher was not talking about trying to find common ground with maga philosophies. The common ground part is the same. There is no common ground for MAGA. That is mind-bogglingly stupid analysis. Actually, it's the absence of analysis, which is what I'd expect from Bill Maher.Did you watch the video? A point he made is a racist, sexist country does not elect a black man president twice and give a woman 3:million more votes. The left has embraced a wokeness that is rejected by much of the country, including POC.
I don't think Maher is saying what you are implying he's saying. He's not saying that someone can't be racist if they voted for Obama in the past - we all know that is a false statement. Rather, Maher is asking if everyone who voted for Trump is a racist. (Let me be clear, I don't think Maher is really asking/saying anything (locally) related to this. I think Maher is saying that the democratic party has lost touch with the "working class." But, that analysis is already in a different thread.) So, taking Maher pedantically at what he said, I'll ask you the question. Does voting for Trump make you a racist? Could there reasons, other than racism, misogyny, etc., that someone would vote for a person as despicable as the pos Trump? That is mind-bogglingly stupid analysis. Actually, it's the absence of analysis, which is what I'd expect from Bill Maher.
It's like saying that a person can't be racist if Michael Jordan is their favorite player. It's akin to "one of my best friends is black." It's like Trump saying that he loves women so how can he be sexist?
This entire campaign from Trump was the equivalent of walking into a bar and shouting the n word over and over again. That guy is racist no matter how many times he voted for Barack Obama.
What “wokeness” are you referring to?Did you watch the video? A point he made is a racist, sexist country does not elect a black man president twice and give a woman 3:million more votes. The left has embraced a wokeness that is rejected by much of the country, including POC.
Bullshit. The fact that Obama actually won twice is what made MAGA. They just started coming out to vote because Obama, seeing the LGBTQ get rights and treated as equals, and inclusion and diversity becoming a thing. They are so scared of losing their privilege of being a straight white Christian. It's facism. It has nothing to do with being "woke." Anything that treats people different from them as equals is woke to them.Did you watch the video? Greed and stupidity are the only other reasons. Don't give me the policy bull, either. There isn't one policy that Trump would have that would make things better for the majority of the country. And there are some things that are more important than policy, too. Like being a decent human being. Anyone who votes for Trump is either plain stupid if they think his policies will be better for the majority of Americans, rich and greedy, or they are a despicable person at heart, no matter how they may act in public.I don't think Maher is saying what you are implying he's saying. Edit: To me, it's similar to the question of why some folks commit crimes.
Maher talked about it. I will defer to him. What “wokeness” are you referring to?
You might be right. However, for someone who has been struggling to make ends meet, rational decisions are very difficult. (There's no reason for me to get into it here because there's been a long discussion of my thoughts, and others, on this in two other threads.)Greed and stupidity are the only other reasons.
