So, how's it going at the old ZZL?

Wondering how much traffic they have on the board there now that we have this new and improved ZZL.
 
I still swing buy about once a week. Just not the same. My premium membership ran out last week so I have to visit the free basketball board.

Same old shit there.
 
I was curious and looked. There are 21 thread with the most recent post being 5 hours or under. 17 in here. I post there infrequently same as here. Certainly not dead over there.

ZZL has been around since the beginning of time. The fact that they get as much or slightly better traffic than a board that has been up and running for about 5 months is not a great indicator that they are doing well.

That board is as dead as disco.

The free basketball board has been a mess for too long, although it does seem a little better this year so far. Just so much negativity all the time, and some posters almost openly rooting for Coach Davis to fail. It's hard at times to believe it's actually a pro-UNC board.
 
I hang on to read about the new "revenue sharing , NIL stuff" One of my "MOs" is to say
"Oh you want to cut 4 time Natty field hockey to give Football $500,00-like we will be Alabama

I imagine the vast majority of those posters are not fans of UNC, but rather ABC fans.

My post earlier in the thread was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but traffic is definitely down over there since OCS got the boot and this board was created. I'm on both boards daily and there's at least equal traffic, if not more, on here. That's especially true for meaningful engagement. A full third of the 21 most active threads you reference on the old ZZL are those silly, zombie wordplay threads. Almost every thread on this board is a running, catch-all type thread too while the old ZZL has more short, random threads. This board is also heavy on politics obviously, which tends to be slow on weekends. All this is to say that the number of threads posted in during the last X hours may not be a good measure of board activity. Also, I have spent more time than is healthy thinking about this tonight.

I am sure there is a way to compare objectively the traffic at both places. My posting had been on the decline in advance of shutdown on zzlp and remains sporadic. I think the decision has been good in two respects. This is a great board in which to talk politics and there is less moderating so I think both sides, not just left and right, get fair hearing. Also I think IC's ZZL is still a place that can be enjoyed without the nastiness that often sullied it. So maybe win-win? That said, I don't know if IC's bottom line has been affected. I certainly prefer this board to the old zzlp.

It did end up being a win-win but only because we had someone like @Rock with the know how and willingness to create this community for us to migrate to. The IC PTB are cowards.
 
Doesn't the quality matter more than quantity? The last time I was there for any duration (over 6 years ago), the same people were posting the same thing. I know that changed some because there are posters here whose changes has surprised me but I suspect that's much the reason that they are here and not there.
