So my wife got me a bunch of new socks last month to replace my old ones that are falling apart. I have to wear shoes all the time because my feet are fucked up and I need the orthotic support, and wearing shoes without socks -- especially with orthotics -- is a recipe for blisters and stinky shoes.

Unfortunately, she also sent some laundry out with a new service that has managed to misplace our load. Included in the lost laundry were all my socks. Meanwhile, I tweaked my right knee on Saturday morning -- the knee whose cap I shattered two years ago -- and haven't wanted to drive because it hurts (as does walking around a lot on a non-carpet).

So I'm on day 3 and my socks are beginning to stink. I'm thinking about wrapping my feet in washcloths.

Just noted for the record, in case the stench starts spilling out through the internet . . .

Pretty sure they still sell socks out there. They'll even deliver them to your door. Sorry to hear about your knees. I did think I smelled something funky.

Bombas. GOATed. And they donate a pair for every pair you purchase.
Bombas are the bomb !

I have 9 pair of Bomba gripper slippers that I wear indoors to keep me from falling down my stairs. I do not own any Bomba socks, but I am confident the socks are as high quality as the slippers.

and like dukeman says, for every pair you buy they donate a pair to those in need.

Have you checked to see if Sydney Sweeney has any socks she's endorsed? I know she does have some soap brand she endorses that would probably be of some use to you.

But you should probably avoid anything she has endorsed or risk losing your liberal credentials.

I'm not sure I'm mentally ready to be paying $15 per pair of socks. Plus, the problem isn't what socks to buy but how to get them before I kill all the plants. I will probably have to bite the bullet and ask my wife to grab a pair from Wal-Mart. She won't be happy, because there's a little more to the "laundry got lost" story (but only a little; it was a small and innocent mistake on my part).

If you want to buy some high dollar socks, some of the best in the world are made in NC; Thorlo, etc.
Buy local!

i've bought several times from this company Point6. They are good quality and I enjoy wearing them. Supposedly there is a lifetime warranty.

Well in that case, forget wool socks, to say nothing of cashmere. But if you ever do take the plunge into wool/cashmere, you'll never go back...

Sadly, I am at that point in my life where my doctor recommends I wear compression socks that come up to just below my knees. I buy Sockwell brand compression socks from Amazon and they come in a variety colors and patterns. I do NOT pair them with shorts. But almost as bad, when I wear shorts, I pair them with Sockwell brand compression socks for sandals, i.e. just above where the sandal stops. I know that this is still dorky, but it is less dorky than wearing the knee high compression socks with shorts, as many in my age cohort do. But on the other hand, how much good is a compression sock doing if it barely rises above above the sandal?

The way I feel is that I don't have to look at myself so I don't care as long as I'm comfortable. It's your problem if you have to look at me.

My kids have Bombas. The littlest pairs have now gone through two boys and look brand new.

I have some Pearl Izumi merino socks that are technically for cycling but look nice enough to be dress socks. I wear those all the time. They’re $24 so they’re one of the things I ask for at Christmas
