Stanford Game Biorhythms, 2:15 start time.

Hubert has to go. He is in so far over his head. Absolutely no offensive game plan. Cadeau and RJ chucking 3's late (and missing) up one and 8 seconds into shot clock.

Somebody says we can't get rid of clueless Hubert if he lands a big recruit? He landed two sure NBA picks last year with a pre-season AA. He sucks.

I’d rather be called a frog than a douche.

There is a competitive bicycling team in Paris called the frogs. Most French don’t find the term offensive. They have their own terms for us. I‘d think being called a douche would be more offensive than being called a frog.
Link? I found no such team, nor did ChatGPT. Do you know any French people? I mean, how can you possibly say that? Again, google says the opposite, as does my life experience. I actually know French people. I didn't ask them about that, of course, but I have my doubts that they would be fine with it.

I'm not arguing over this any more. You want to make an ass of yourself, if you want to be a POS, that's your choice. I prefer not to spend time with people who utter ethnic slurs.

Would it be possible not to refer to our head coach as "clueless"? It just seems awfully harsh. He's a great Tar Heel and doesn't deserve that type of scorn. It pains me a little bit to see people talking about him this way. "In so far over his head." I mean, come on.

Whether or not he's an effective coach, can we be a little classier and more respectful? If he was an ass like Doh, abusing players, that would be one thing.

Can't you simply create another thread addressing this, rather than shitting on this thread? Everyone else ignored the dumb comment, so as to keep it from getting traction and ruining another thread. You, didn't, as usual.

I love Hubert, as a player, as a Tar Heel, as a man.

My comments are in reference to his coaching at UNC. If he wasn't up to the task, when Roy annointed him as a part of the family, he shouldn't have accepted the monumental position.

I believe the season has fallen completely apart. We are not going to make the NCAA tournament. We won't even be close to the bubble.
If they end up with a losing record he might not get another season, but for sure next season will be his last if there isn't a lot of improvement. I felt like he doesn't really have any kind of offensive scheme since he started. It's all freestyle ball with a lot of 1 on 1 shots off the dribble, including the 3s they take. They had the option of having a big man that can score down low when Bacot was there, but now they don't have that option so it's been even more standing around and dribbling and 1 on 1 shots off the dribble. That might work if you have a team of mostly NBA talent, but he hasn't had that. I feel like he has tried to force a square peg in a round hole with the way he has let them play on offense with the players he has had.

And switching everytime on defense has been even worse.

I’m not advocating for a coaching change straight up. But I will guess that there are PTB, some Rams Clubbers, some well-heeled Heels who won’t sit back and do nothing much longer. Hubert has “his players” except for RJ (and he was supposed to be POY candidate in ACC this year). Hubert’s seat may not be “hot”, but let’s agree that when he starts his car on a cold January day, the driver’s side seat is already warm.

Well, he probably has a car with remote start and heated seats.

I spent my entire life working to get to the point that I could gove enough money to get UNC season tickets and now have almost zero interest in watching us play. That alone speaks volumes about the malaise of the program.
I feel your pain. I'm not even sure I'm interested in making my annual pilgrimage to Chapel Hill this season.

I know it's no consolation, but it's really tough to follow a HOF coach, particularly when the cupboard isn't stuff-packed. Throw in the portal and NIL and there's a decent chance that any new coach is going to struggle.

I have a feeling that the Davis era is going to be over no later than the end of next season (unless the team makes it to the Final Four).

Yeah, hate to say it, but Roy's retirement came at a really bad time for the program. Would have been better if it happened a couple of seasons later and they could have gotten a head coach that already had a couple of seasons with experience navigating the transfer portal and NIL. Or at least hire someone that already had head coaching experience.

But that still doesn't explain the coaching of switching everything on defense and no real offensive scheme.

I get that, but if someone knows what the hell they are doing, it can be done.

I'm sure nobody around here thinks baseball is a reasonable comparison, but Scott Forbes has done just fine following a Hall of Fame coach...and he inherited a MUCH more bare cupboard.

Moreover, Scheyer is doing just fine and arguably Duke without K is MUCH less of a brand than UNC without Roy.

Easily the worst loss of the season, imo. Most of our other losses were at least to top-ranked teams at the time, and if we had pretty much run the table against teams like Stanford we would still have been in good shape for the tournament. Losing at home to Stanford is not a good look and will definitely hurt us if we're on the bubble come tourney selection time. And as these losses mount there is definitely going to be increasing pressure on Davis, as there should be. If UNC doesn't make the tournament this year then I think he gets one more season to turn things around. But his pattern thus far of having a successful season followed by completely missing the tournament the next season isn't going to work for long at a program with UNC's basketball tradition. And if dook makes the Final Four this year (god forbid) then the pressure on Davis next season will only increase.

Hate to say it but the way Duke plays under Scheyer this season is more fun to watch. And why can't Hubert get a player like Flagg?

If? If?

Barring a 10-million-to-one run where we suddenly start playing like a top 10 team, we're closer to being eliminated than being securely in the NCAAT. Right now, we should hope to be a bubble team because the likely alternative is that we're pretty certainly out. And, either way, this loss will be a big reason we're where we are.
