Then you probably love being called out on your false narrative that this is about girls playing varsity football, it isn't.

90% of males do suck at football. The numbers are easy to follow. That's why the few that are good move to the next level and leave the majority behind.

This really seems to boil down to you not liking how the men were portrayed. That's fine. I could see that. But bringing down the women or flag football isn't necessary to express that opinion.

The boys (not going to call them men since they were supposed to be high schoolers) were portrayed as idiotic, bigoted, and terrible at the one thing that they cared about which is football. That's just a bad message for high school boys. Can you imagine if there was an ad for ballet lessons that essentially featured some high school dudes just humiliating a bunch of girls for no reason and implying that they aren't good at anything?

Do you think Rihanna appealed to old white people? Usher? The Weeknd? Guess it depends on your definition of old. Lamar is getting dragged in a way that the three other shows I mentioned never did. We get it, he's literally obsessed with Drake. We don't care.
I think MAGA views rap as bullshit that isn't real art, so they bitch and complain about it like anything else they don't understand. The first thing the most MAGA person in my office said to me this morning was "that halftime show was terrible, I couldn't understand a word he was saying". Nothing about the game, just straight into grievance. I'll give MAGA credit for one thing, they are efficient at disseminating their talking points.

That's what I'm saying. He's a polarizing choice that would appeal to a certain small demographic (delusional MAGATs) and would alienate everyone else. Same as Lamar. Halftime shows should be about trying to entertain a broad demographic, not a tiny one.
How many group reach that broad a group of people?

So I almost never watch the Super Bowl halftime show. I'm just not that interested.

But evidently I missed something worthwhile this time. From my reading it appears that Lamar had some very interesting things to say about certain segments of America preferring to be entertained rather than to think about what's in front of them.

The reaction would seem to jive with this interpretation. It's also not lost on me that media literacy among right-wing leaning individuals is remarkably low. These are people who got upset when they realized in like the fifth season that Homelander from the Boys was a bad guy.

Does anyone know where I can find a recording of this performance to watch it?

I mean, he did just win five Grammies, including record of the year and song of the year, and his last album debuted at number one on the Billboard charts, making it his fifth album to top the charts. So it’s not like he’s some unpopular or obscure act, or some act that appeals to a small demographic. He’s the opposite. He’s about the biggest thing going right now.

And for the record, I think he sucks. To me, his rapping sounds like that of a no-talent hack and his beats are totally lame. I’m not sure why anyone likes him. But that doesn’t mean he’s not the biggest act in music right now, which he pretty much is.

I can understand that position.

Man, you'd think that the organizers of the Superbowl would have picked a halftime act that would have resonated with more than 13% of the country. How many black people do you think would like a Jason Aldean halftime show?
You were doing better when you were pretending this wasn’t about race.

I mean to be fair I am far from MAGA and I also couldn't understand a thing Lamar was saying.

That's a terrible read on the entire subject.

The boys were portrayed as idiotic and sexist. They were then humbled by women whom they had underestimated.

Your analogy fails because it is not actually the reverse of the situation that we were shown. If there had been a commercial attempting to get boys involved in ballet, and it had been a group of catty and cruel girls suggesting that boys could never dance gracefully only to be proven wrong, no one would be suggesting that that was a bad role model for girls - It would be absolutely understood that the girls should not behaved that way in the first place and that gatekeeping is wrong, and that men and women are equally capable across many fields.

But the only thing you took from that commercial was about the mistreatment that boys suffer at the hands of women or the media is in itself a reminder of how necessary that message of equality actually is. That the male spectator was so openly supportive of the women is there to show you that it's not girls against boys, but those who wish to exclude versus those who wish to include.

Men are not the victim in a campaign to get women's flag football embraced more widely.

Oh my god this is the most snowflake thing ever.

Probably quite a few. Usher reached a lot more people than Lamar did or Aldean would. Katy Perry did, Dr. Dre did, Beyonce did, I'm sure Madonna did, hell even Drake would. Even if people aren't huge fans of those musicians, their songs are on the radio all of the time so people at least know them. I don't think anyone outside of Lamar's fanbase really knows his songs.

MAGA views rap as “black” and therefore they hate it.

Don’t overcomplicate it.

lol you think only black people like Kendrick?

I'm not personally a Kendrick fan but thought the show was good. I do think it's surprising they went with someone who has very few fans over the age of 35 or so, though. Usually the whole point of the halftime show is for people in, like, the 30-50 demographic to have songs they know and can sing along with.

Equality in football doesn't exist. It is a meritocracy. The best most physically talented get to play and get to win. If there was a woman out there who could throw the ball better than Pat Mahomes she would be signed and compensated as such because teams want to win above all else. There isn't. Instead of celebrating excellence, some want to water the game down so that everyone gets a trophy. I personally don't want the NFL to devolve into flag football in 15 years and that seems to be the direction they are moving towards. Gaslighting us into believing that girls are better than boys at football isn't going to work. That's not reality - it is delusion and we are not stupid.

This is probably true, but it's also true that Lamar has a massive fanbase. He's not some niche unknown artist. And nobody cares if you don't like it, but it's beyond lame that the MAGA world has to make a huge show of that fact. Just dislike it and move on - no need to create a huge stink. Anything that offends MAGA's sensibilities these days has to be some kind of big deal. It's whiny and soft.

The commercial was about starting youth girls flag football leagues, not affirmative-actioning girls into playing regular football against boys or turning the NFL into flag football. Did you even see the commercial? How are you misinterpreting it this badly lol.
