Very good point Healing and also very true. Markets not reacting positively to Trump's shell game, yet. Maybe it will later today but not so far. It is going further south actually right now.

You can't play these silly games on the world stage like you are running casinos. And we all know how his casino ownership worked out, the great businessman, deal maker, and all.

Commercial markets also HAVE to raise prices to hedge an unpredictable incoming cost, contributing to inflation.

So dumb.

...and we know how well Trump did with casinos! That's why Trump is cutting off aid to Native Americans.
 
Thought Trump's casinos were in Atlantic City, NJ. Pretty sure that's not reservation land. Unless I am missing your point, quite possible.

Pretty certain the Connecticut casinos, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun (Native American-owned), helped put a hurt on Trump’s Atlantic City casinos).

They’re the largest, Foxwoods, and 2nd largest, Mohegan, casinos in the United States.

Compared to sleazy Atlantic City, they’re big, beautiful, and new.

"...Trudeau said negotiations are underway to secure some form of tariff relief for certain sectors, but warned there's no sign that Trump is willing to drop his levies entirely and it's likely a trade dispute will continue "for the foreseeable future."

Trudeau said there are ongoing discussions to have all of the tariffs dropped until April 2, when Trump is expected to impose another layer of retaliatory tariffs on all countries he claims are ripping off the U.S. But those talks have not been finalized and Trudeau said he was reluctant to comment until there is something concrete to announce.

... The prime minister acknowledged that the 50-minute conversation between the two men on Wednesday was heated, but said it was a "substantive" call and that there could be a resolution to these issues, at least in the short term.

But Trudeau said over the longer term, Trump seems committed to tariffs.

I think he just called Trump's bluff.

Trump is losing leverage here. It has already been demonstrated how harmful the tariffs will be to the USA. Everyone knows that including our trading partners.

If Trump is using tariffs as a negotiating tactic, it is failing because everyone now knows Trump does not have the cards to play.

The international community is finally tired of Trump's crap and is realizing that they have to separate themselves from our chaos.

It would be awesome if our trading partners banded together and all placed tariffs on US goods and stated that these will only be removed if Trump backs down and promises no new tariffs.
 

Trump delays some tariffs on Mexico and Canada for one month​

“President Donald Trump on Thursday signed executive actions that delay for nearly one month tariffs on all products from Mexico and Canada that are covered by the USMCA free trade treaty, a significant walkback of the administration’s signature economic plan that has rattled markets, businesses and consumers.

The executive actions follow a discussion Trump held Thursday with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and negotiations between Canadian and Trump administration officials.

… However, a White House official on a call with the press added some nuance to that argument: About 50% of imports from Mexico and 36% of imports from Canada are covered under the agreement, the official said, but many more items – such as avocados – are generally not covered because of the high cost of of compliance. However, those items that technically are not in compliance with USMCA have in effect been treated at customs as if they were, or they weren’t subject to tariffs.

It’s complicated trade policy, and the White House official suggested those goods producers could register to comply with USMCA rules to avoid the 25% tariff for a month. But the official referred the press to the US Trade Representative for more details about which products will maintain the 25% tariff and which won’t once those details become available. …”
 
Damage has already been done. Notice the stock market's reaction to the lifting of tariffs. None.

25% tariffs on our biggest trading partner is bad, but not necessarily worse than the obvious reality that nobody in the administration has any idea what they are doing. Why the hell would anyone want to invest in the US?

And it does not appear that all the tariffs are being lifted, so there's that as well. Now the administration has been exposed as an idiocracy, and we still have some tariffs, and we're not getting any significant revenue from them, and nobody knows what to do when economic policy changes day by day -- this is a banana republic economic policy.
