62% of American adults own stock.

77 million people voted for Trump.

Someone isn't mathing in the administration.
More than that, none of it makes sense. The wealth effect **always** applies to the wealthy (duh!). The point is that if consumers pull back spending -- and affluent people tend to consume a lot -- it can be an adverse shock that reduces overall aggregate demand. It's thus recessionary. Who the fuck cares about the incidence of the effect.

There is absolutely no way the Main Street economy doesn't suffer. I guess really they haven't listened to anyone in manufacturing. People are going to get laid off because businesses will lose competitiveness. American exporters are up shit creek.

Bullshit. Professional liar, as all of his spokesman have to be.
It's all verbal bluster and swagger, and always has been with Trump. Since he has no substance to fall back on, everything with him has always been about the public appearance - in his case, swaggering and blustering and bullying and acting tough and macho. It's been his persona for decades, best exemplified on The Apprentice when he would look tough and point his finger at somebody and say "YOU'RE FIRED!" He loves that shit, and it's really all he's got. It's no surprise that his minions have taken on the same air and are acting the way Dear Leader would want them to.

The billionaires have lost control of their monster.
Which was inevitable, imo. The Republican Party helped create their own Frankenstein monster and then lost control of him in his first term. Now that he owns the GOP body and soul it's his billionaire and corporate supporters and people like Bannon who are learning that Trump is ultimately uncontrollable. Musk will likely eventually learn that lesson as well.

Then they're truly stupid. I know that anyone not in the cult already knows this, but you keep raising tariffs on China and prices are ultimately going to soar at places like Walmart and Dollar General and other stores where much of his base shops because it's cheap and they often can't afford anything better.
