The best fast food value for your buck

I’m not sure if this counts as fast food, but there this place in Charlotte called Sushi Bowl Plus where you order a sushi bowl at the counter, and for what you get, it’s a total steal. You can get a bowl there for $15, and it is loaded with a pretty substantial amount of sushi. And it’s really good. You can get even more sushi added to it for just an extra $3. Considering the price I pay at most sushi joints, it’s pretty unbelievable.

Some of you complaining about fast food prices aren't doing it right. I can sure as hell eat a McDonald's lunch ordered on the app about as cheap as I can make anything at home. I'm guessing they're trying to lure people into the app so people get accustomed to it and they can fire most of the cashiers, then raise the prices back. But for now it's pretty cheap and it really is way easier to order on the app and pick it up than it is to talk to some dummy at the drive through or go in and order, which can take forever if they're poorly staffed.

A Cookout is opening up fairly close to me, taking over what was a Wendy’s for as long as I can remember. I almost never go to fast food chains unless I’m on the road, but I might have to visit this Cookout when it opens.
I don't eat at fast food burger/hot dog places much anymore, as much for my health in my aging years as the price, but when I do I prefer Dairi-O's to Cookout. I like the food better (especially their hot dogs) and their milkshakes a whole lot more, although they don't have the variety of flavors that Cookout does. Cookout is famous for their number of milkshake flavors, but they use a cheap base and you can taste it, imo.

Most of the ones near me only have one, part time, cashier. Between the app and the kiosk who need a cashier?

There's a Bojangles near us that recently switched to using an automated (AI?) voice program to take orders at the drive thru instead of a person. They had two windows at the drive thru but the first one is never open anymore, you now just pay at the other window if you're not using an app. I imagine that nearly all fast-food places will be doing that relatively soon.

Man I love a $4 shake at Cook Out. I know it starts as milk flakes but add in that candy and chocolate syrup and it hits the spot. Same at Char Grill but they only have the chocolate and vanilla with no add-ins, but it's just a milk flake machine. But what I really like about them both is it's basically ice cream. I know some people like a shake you can drink through a straw but I like mine thick like ice cream and eat it with a spoon.

It's all subjective, but I've never liked Cook Out shakes, I just don't like the ice cream they use. I do like a creamier, smoother shake.

I don’t have one of those anywhere near me, but I pass one in Lenoir when I go to Blowing Rock or one of the other towns in that part of the NC mountains. I always wondered what it was. It looks very popular.
