The economy tanked in 2007-2009.

Obama was elected and almost immediately the Tea Party erupted.

A tanking economy isn’t swinging the “moderate” 20% to the Democrats for any lengthy term.

And what Kimmel said wasn't negative toward Kirk. It was about how maga is acting.

Maga is over the top with this. I've seen comparisons to basically Jesus. He's been compared to MLK and others and he wasn't in the same league.

And why spend money to fight extortion in court? It shouldn't be happening to begin with. Presidents shouldn't be extorting private companies.

I've also seen comparisons to MLK, calling Kirk a civil rights icon (lol) and advocating for a national holiday in his name. The canonizing of Kirk is wild.

Just more evidence of what a true religious cult MAGA is. They not only mourn their passed leaders, they deify them and attack anyone who criticizes them in even the mildest way. Instead, everyone - even those "not of the body" - are expected to show "appropriate respect" for the fallen leader or hero at all times.

You are right; this shit started with the tea party. Fair point too, it is possible that a swing won't last long. But a long lived change has to start with a change, and I think a tanked economy can cause that. I just hope the electorate changes for the longer term, that old wacked out MAGA cultists are replaced by more reasonable voters when they die.

Hell, it wasn't even because of the quote you cited. Kimmel's sin was making fun of Trump's total lack of empathy, which was objectively true. The line about Trump reaching the 4th stage of grief, construction, was fucking hysterical. Unless you are a tissue paper thin skinned autocrat. Then it burns like a thousand suns and you must have vengeance.

The quoted article suggested that as a matter of courtesy, students are requested not to repaint the rock for 24 hours and that it is typical for persons painting the rock to put the date/time on the rock so subsequent painters will know whether the recommended 24 hours has elapsed.
