i don't really disagree with that part.

this part was a bit over the top for me personally: "Everyone who claims to be nauseated about Kirk's death -- are you serious? He's a dead terrorist..."
I omitted the word "like." I will edit.

He's like a dead terrorist, in that he declared war against liberal democracy. Liberal democracy should care about him the same way he thought of it.

Governor Josh Stein ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff today through sunset Sunday, Sept. 14.

The Governor ordered flags to be lowered Sept. 11 to honor the victims, their families and the heroic sacrifices of the first responders on 9/11 and what has since become known as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Governor Stein also previously ordered that flags be lowered Sept. 13 in honor of civil rights activist Major General Joseph McNeil, who will be buried in his hometown of Wilmington on Saturday.

Flags will remain at half-staff through Sunday in conjunction with guidance from the White House in memory of Charlie Kirk.

For many young folks on the Right, 9/10 will be their 9/11.

I think many of you here (understandably since Kirk wasn't in your social media feed) grossly underestimate the power, influence and reach of Charlie Kirk. He mobilized the youth on college campuses and on social media and I would argue, played a huge role in Trump winning the under 30 vote (particularly among young men). Kirk wasn't a right wing provocateur; instead, he was famous for showing up on campuses with a smile and politely engaging with liberals in a friendly manner. Kirk also played a role in the return of young men to church which has been quantified. There was/is no one equivalent on the Left.

Kirk will be hard/impossible to replace.

Expect to be asked to provide attribution for statements like, "Kirk also played a role in the return of young men to church which has been quantified."

I will not let such things go. I am also not accusing you of anything save not providing proof. Perhaps you are in a hurry. But expect me to ask.

lol, my God you are pathetic.

Don't trust WSJ to verify information before going public?
It is owned by Rupert Murdoch. And Trump sure didn’t trust their reporting. That said, it wouldn’t be surprising if it was a trans activist considering he’s called trans people “an abomination to God”, blamed trans people for things as attenuated as inflation, and called for stripping them of all sorts of basic human rights.

I grow weary of the hand-wringing on the left. Everyone who claims to be nauseated about Kirk's death -- are you serious? He's like a dead terrorist. He was at war with liberal democracy, so liberal democracy shouldn't give a fuck about his death. He was one of the people most responsible for GOP's embrace of hate politics. For him to be killed by hate politics -- if that's what happened -- just means he lived to see the fruit of his labors. It's true that political violence is terrible. But Kirk was an advocate for political violence. He was a net negative for society. He was a man of limited ability who managed to climb to preposterous heights simply by peddling hate, fear, and violence with little sophistication, giving it to his fans raw and unadulterated.

Stop saying, I hate it that he was killed. He was killed by his own hand. I don't care.

Last night I asked my 12 year old son if he was familiar with Kirk, he knew who he was. This is a pre-teen who's life revolves around sports and video games, he (and his friends) had already been exposed to Kirk's poisonous rhetoric.

I won't condone violence but I also won't pretend I'm not happy that my son and his friends won't be exposed to this mans warped ideology.

I have no idea who the shooter is but are you really surprised if this turns out to be someone with left wing ideology? What are the other options? Someone who Kirk wronged on an individual basis? Right wing conspiracy led by Trump?

I’m as left as they come, but are we surprised by any of this. The right keeps pushing things closer and closer to the kingship of Donald Trump all while throwing their hands up saying they are doing nothing , while blaming the left for what they are doing. It’s ludicrous.

But when is political violence ok? At what point has the right gone too far? If they announce Trump king, announce Christianity as she state religion, do away with separation of church and state, imprisonment of political rivals? Murder if rivals and illegals?
At some point there will be physical opposition of that’s the agenda right? For the shooter we had reached that point already.

Note I’m not condoning violence. But I’m horrified and curious at the same time. If we are indeed sliding down the slippery slope towards something like Nazi Germany when is the time for physicall opposition?

And was indeed blaming trans people for mass shootings as the trigger was pulled. Up until his last moment, nothing but hate.

What does transgender and antifascist ideology engraving on a bullet look like? Seems like something out of a movie. Very strange.

Uncouth? Callous? Ill-timed? Sure. But dangerous? No.

There is nothing “dangerous” about saying that hate begets hate. It’s the exact point I made yesterday.
I'd put it in the callous and ill-timed categories more than uncouth. Uncouth would be the awful headline I saw on a satirical site (since taken down): Anti-vaxxer finally gets shot.
