The Charlie Kirk Thread

It's a good thing there's no dangerous rhetoric on the Left, right @4thgenheel
"no dangerous rhetoric on the left" = things i never fucking said for $1000, alex! why must you be such a fucking liar?

but anyway, yeah man super saying something over the top on a message board totally equates to literally thousands of conservative politicians and influencers flooding TV, radio and social media with worse stuff.

nailed it, bro!

Let’s not give “Never Trumpers” too much credit.

They helped bring us the Iraq War. They helped put Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia, John Roberts, and Samuel Alito on the Supreme Court. They helped Mitch McConnell stop Merrick Garland’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

They helped push through the Bush AND Trump tax laws.

Opposing Trump is a LOW BAR. It’s sub-basement level on being a good person. One shouldn’t look for applause for being “Never Trump.”

I’m glad they’re anti-Trump.

Let’s not forget that they’re Reagan Republicans. Right-wing Republicans.

If we have an “After Trump,” they’ll help elect right-wing Republicans.
Fair enough. I see your point(s).

What on earth is the right wing going to do if it turns out that the shooter was motivated not by leftist ideology but rather by an even more extreme far right ideology than the one Kirk espoused? Obviously, either way, it’s horrific and abhorrent. I just mean that the entire right wing media ecosystem has already gone all in on declaring war on the entire liberal apparatus in this country, what is going to happen if it turns out that the shooter doesn’t have the ideological motivations that they’ve already decided he has without him even having been caught yet?
They will simply call it fake news and then stop talking about it. See their ridiculous crap with the Melissa Hortman assassination where they claimed it was a leftwinger until it was undeniable that it was a rightwing Christian nationalist and then they just refused to acknowledge that it ever even happened. Same with the first Trump assassination attempt. They wanted to go to war with the left over that until it came out that he was a registered Republican who wore MAGA hats and spouted red pilled incel crap, but ultimately had a death wish and wanted to go out being infamous.

There is nothing dangerous about rhetoric suggesting that a man who advocated political violence maybe isn't worth crying tears over when he was killed by the exact thing he advocated.

Kirk would have approved of every single thing that happened that day, with the exception of the target. Had the bullet hit a liberal next to him on stage, he would have been happy.

By the way, @Ramrouser, when Nancy Pelosi's husband Paul was beaten within an inch of his life by a crazy right-wing guy who was looking for Nancy Pelosi, this is how Charlie Kirk reacted: by claiming that any connection between the attack and right-wing rhetoric was absurd and saying that a "Patriot" should bail the attacker out.

Yeah, this is the saintly "non-provocateur" you were describing.
I missed your previous post because you must have been responding to a Super Ignored chud. I saw it in a quote from CFord.

My response - an enthusiastic thumbs up. Bravo!

What is over the top about saying that Kirk was killed by his own hand?
i don't really disagree with that part.

this part was a bit over the top for me personally: "Everyone who claims to be nauseated about Kirk's death -- are you serious? He's a dead terrorist..."

For the record, MAGA still believes both of these incidents were carried out by leftists, even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, simply because it's what they want to be true. There are multiple examples of this on the old ZZL in the past 24 hours.

exactly. This and this alone needs to be the message from the left. His shooting was merely downstream from his own actions. The right is complaining that the boomerang they threw has come back.

Charlie Kirk was a clever internet troll. He had no discernible talent other than saying provocative things with a smile on his face. He was a mediocrity who lied about why he didn't get into West Point, spent a few weeks at CC, and took on any role that would get him closer to power (he was not originally a Trump supporter). There is a reason he was spoofed in South Park as being Eric Cartman, because that is the essence of who he was. Of the thousands of deaths by violence in the world yesterday his was likely one of the least tragic. That he had such cachet amongst the younger population is a tragedy and an ominous sign for our country.

I omitted the word "like." I will edit.

He's like a dead terrorist, in that he declared war against liberal democracy. Liberal democracy should care about him the same way he thought of it.

Governor Josh Stein ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff today through sunset Sunday, Sept. 14.

The Governor ordered flags to be lowered Sept. 11 to honor the victims, their families and the heroic sacrifices of the first responders on 9/11 and what has since become known as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Governor Stein also previously ordered that flags be lowered Sept. 13 in honor of civil rights activist Major General Joseph McNeil, who will be buried in his hometown of Wilmington on Saturday.

Flags will remain at half-staff through Sunday in conjunction with guidance from the White House in memory of Charlie Kirk.
