The Charlie Kirk Thread

How about we start with the guy who was literally celebrating political violence. Who answered a question "when do we get to use the guns" with "don't say that, it's what they want you to say."

I'm completely OK with how it went down. Terrible person dead. Another person is going to be punished for his actions. World is a better place for it.

The left has no answer in that space also because the conservative brain feeds off of fear. They are obviously opposed to change, it frightens them. Critical thinking is not a strong suit. There's a reason why charlatans, grifters and scammers can so easily manipulate these folks into conspiracies, snake oil, and fantastical religion. They will believe anything that makes them feel better, regardless of facts.

I've been saying this since the election. The left is not connect with a large portion of the general public. As long as a large percentage of Americans are getting their "news" from TikTok, X, and Charlie Kirk/ Joe Rogan manosphere podcasts, the left doesn't stand a chance. Dems have to figure out a) what their message is and b) how to reach people where they are.
What if "where people are" is antisocial racism?

My son, at University of Michigan of all places, constantly runs into idiots who say the n* word, sometimes in group efforts that they apparently think is funny. They talk approvingly about Nazis. They scrawl swastikas on Jewish students' doors. It's not a majority of the campus but it was really surprising to me.

If you have any ideas how you reach those people where they are without sacrificing every one of our ideals, I'd love to hear them.

I thought they were trying to say he was antifa? Or is that just Zen?
If you think the Right is interefering with and taking over universities now, just wait until this sinks in and red-state legislatures and the Trump administration starts demanding that colleges and universities abolish entire departments and try to start writing their curricula. Because it's coming, and people like Chris Rufo will be leading the charge.

I work in higher ed in a deep red state, I know exactly what they're up to.

Biden speaks like a traditional politician so he's not going to use overt violent language. I would argue, however, that Biden, as President of the US, has used divisive language.

During his speech delivered in Philadelphia on 9/1/22 (the dark red speech) titled "The Continued Battle for the Soul of the Nation." the President strongly condemned "MAGA Republicans" stating "they represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic." He also said that "MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards." "The Republican Party is currently dominated, driven, intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans," calling this a "threat to this country."
Leaving aside the debate about whether this is "divisive" Trump got elected in 2024 and basically proved every bit of this true.
