That you would think or argue it only hinges on one guy isn’t indicative of much thought. That reference was to point out that he had no meaningful support and it was never possible.

I've gotten pretty good. Figured out the heat and timing. We do it mostly when the kids are over.

What is it with you guys and your emotional fragility? I don’t believe in the ignore button. If you don’t want to discuss anything with me then you can put me on ignore. Im not a pussy. If I don’t want to engage you I just don’t.

All you have done is provide theory. Nothing you provided has happened. Yet you have not applied any of what you posted to actual events that occurred. So, realistically, how close were we to the end of democracy given no g’ment support, military support, and public support?

Were elections undermined? Yes. Morons still believe 2020 was stolen. A smaller but not insignificant group believe Trump stole 2024 bases on comments Trump himself made about Musk doing things to “the computers” to make him win. A chucklefuck in NC held up a NC Supreme Court seat for 6 months trying to get absentee ballots tossed out, but only in a few strategically selected counties. Fewer and fewer people trust that the outcomes of elections are legitimate, and that is exactly the definition of undermining elections. And that is all because Trump started crying that every election is rigged starting with the primaries in 2016.

Checks and balances are all sorts of eroded. Trump impounding money that was appropriated by law is stripping Congress of the power of the purse as just one example.

Corruption has been completely normalized by Trump. He has gutted the Department of Justice’s Public Integrity unit, which is responsible for prosecuting public corruption as well as DOJs Foreign Corrupt Practices Act enforcement unit. He fires any statistician who publishes numbers that make his administration look bad. His constant crypto grifting is probably the most brazen act of corruption in the history of the Presidency possibly aside from him accepting a jet from Qatar to be given to his “library” which will really just be his personal private plane after he leaves office while having the Air Force pay to upgrade it for him. Clarence Thomas is pretty much openly accepting bribes from Republicans mega donors at this point.

Great...I have no one on ignore either but if you can't dredge up some honesty AND reading comprehension then other than as an example of a malignant, injured mindset, your musings here have no value.
 
What a wonderful, rooted in reality, argument...that so far trumpist attempts to destroy constitutional democratic republicanism have yet to fully come to fruition there is nothing to worry about.

I can rebutt that later. You are talking about current issues now. My comments were centered on Jan 6th. The left likes to scream Jan 6 threatened democracy. None of those things you mentioned happened as a result of Jan 6 and they were never in danger of happening

I’m genuinely sorry that you perceive my post of some of the news distressing or that you perceive that as some indication that I somehow don’t support LGBTQ+ people. I think I have been very consistently clear that is not the case.

There are a ton of claims out there I am not sharing because they do not appear supported by reasonably rigorous reporting. I posted the initial Fox online post about the roommate only with a critique of the reporting and the reporter, but Fox was running with it and I posed it here because it is relevant to the discussion.

I posted details from the NY Post article because it is getting traction but also to call attention to how sketchy some of the reporting is (and to me how nasty the tone of the unnamed relative of the roommate is).

I didn’t do that to support or antagonize anyone, but I also don’t see how ignoring that reporting changes anything.

I am deeply troubled by the handling of this by the FBI and whatever law enforcement has raked prior debunked stories in this case. But several details have made me dubious of the groyper speculation (particularly reports that the shooter considered Kirk to be spewing hate — a groyper would be angry that Kirk is not hateful enough).

As much as I read about the extreme far right, I haven’t read much about the toxic gamer community culture since the days of Gamergate. As a result, I’ve been on a learning curve trying to grasp what reads to me like a more anarchist stew that doesn’t fit perfectly into a far right or far left narrative. And I think the general lack of knowledge about that insular online community has created a lot of ill-informed media speculation about some of the details here.

Anyway, the story about the roommate is pretty ugly because there are a lot of strands to pull at here that don’t all make a ton of sense and meanwhile it is feeding a mob mentality against a small, vulnerable minority. I prefer the MAGA mob focus on the left generally than be gifted the target they want and government support to vilify and torment all transgender people even more than is already happening.

I find this all immensely upsetting personally but I also don’t believe in looking away or ignoring reports I don’t want to believe.

Maybe there are others im not thinking about but he has been able to end run the courts on some of the funding. His strategy is to do what he thinks he can get away with and let the slow judicial process sort it out. But there are times where the court rules against him. His time to be able to employ that strategy is running out. There is no way the right will be able to maintain a majority in both houses so the check congress provides is going to get stronger.
