How did we get here? What made 77 million Americans fall for the grift of an orange pos idiot like Donald Trump? I just don’t understand it.
In 1972, Richard Nixon won in a landslide spouting the Southern Strategy and comments about the Silent Majority. A shitload of Americans thought Archie Bunker was real and right.

In 1980, Reagan won in a landslide, beating an incumbent. He ran on the Southern Strategy; he opened his campaign for the 1980 Presidential Election at the Neshoba County Fair, advocating states’ rights.

If Neshoba County doesn’t ring a bell, think about the movie “Mississippi Burning.” Neshoba County is where the State of Mississippi, the local government, and the Klan murdered Schwerner, Goodman, and Chaney; and, buried them in an earthen dam. Schwerner, Chaney, and Goodman were committing the unholy act of registering and encouraging black Mississippians to vote and stand up for their rights. That’s where Reagan chose to open his campaign and to speak about state rights.

In 1984, Reagan won running on “Morning in America.” Which was a continuation on the Southern Strategy; or, a precursor to “Make America Great Again.”

Trumpism isn’t new. We’ve held it at bay on occasion.

Disagree all you want, if there are two candidates one of them will win. Your third party vote is simply a personal statement that is disregarded by the country.

Chase Oliver wasn't a candidate he was an afterthought. Did he get a single EC vote? Did your vote accomplish anything? NO it didn't. Now had you realized there were two candidates, you could have voted against the chaos we have, but instead your third party vote helped to produce what we have now.

The truth is the non viable third party candidates need to realize their role in what happened and apologize and in the future they should really consider the country and drop out of the race once it becomes clear they cannot win or make a difference.
WTF is Chase Oliver?

It's the ppl. White supremacy is real.

In spite of all the cries for freedom from white supremacists, everything outside of indoctrination is illegal.

Everything mainstream is a right wing grift.

Given the racial and other demographics of the general election in 2024, the problem goes way beyond white supremacy. Trump nearly doubled his support among Black voters between 2020 and 2024. Educated people regardless of race remained more anti-trump. Racism is def part of the problem but not the only problem.

You’re discounting the fact that Hispanics and blacks can also be racists.

It’s been discussed here on this board and in many other (more respectable, lol) media that Cubans in FL are disposed to hate Venezuelans, Mexicans, Salvadorans, Hondurans, etc. Cubans often think of themselves as superior to the riffraff from those other countries. And Cubans largely supported Trump as a result.

Same with black voters who went for Trump. In addition to the cultural conservatism (eg, anti-gay) inherent in some areas of black culture, there’s also an aspect that they, too, are superior to those crazy invading hordes from Latin America.

My argument is about white supremacy, not racism.
Headcount of white supremacists has probably gone up since 2016 due to people like Fuentes, Charlie Kirk, the politicians and maga media-faces, etc. But how we got from tea-party to here or from 2020 to here I don't think is largely due believers of white supremacy.
