How did we get here? What made 77 million Americans fall for the grift of an orange pos idiot like Donald Trump? I just don’t understand it.
In 1972, Richard Nixon won in a landslide spouting the Southern Strategy and comments about the Silent Majority. A shitload of Americans thought Archie Bunker was real and right.

In 1980, Reagan won in a landslide, beating an incumbent. He ran on the Southern Strategy; he opened his campaign for the 1980 Presidential Election at the Neshoba County Fair, advocating states’ rights.

If Neshoba County doesn’t ring a bell, think about the movie “Mississippi Burning.” Neshoba County is where the State of Mississippi, the local government, and the Klan murdered Schwerner, Goodman, and Chaney; and, buried them in an earthen dam. Schwerner, Chaney, and Goodman were committing the unholy act of registering and encouraging black Mississippians to vote and stand up for their rights. That’s where Reagan chose to open his campaign and to speak about state rights.

In 1984, Reagan won running on “Morning in America.” Which was a continuation on the Southern Strategy; or, a precursor to “Make America Great Again.”

Trumpism isn’t new. We’ve held it at bay on occasion.

Disagree all you want, if there are two candidates one of them will win. Your third party vote is simply a personal statement that is disregarded by the country.

Chase Oliver wasn't a candidate he was an afterthought. Did he get a single EC vote? Did your vote accomplish anything? NO it didn't. Now had you realized there were two candidates, you could have voted against the chaos we have, but instead your third party vote helped to produce what we have now.

The truth is the non viable third party candidates need to realize their role in what happened and apologize and in the future they should really consider the country and drop out of the race once it becomes clear they cannot win or make a difference.
WTF is Chase Oliver?

It's the ppl. White supremacy is real.

In spite of all the cries for freedom from white supremacists, everything outside of indoctrination is illegal.

Everything mainstream is a right wing grift.

Overview
Chase Russell Oliver is an American political activist and politician who was the nominee of the Libertarian Party for the 2024 United States presidential election. Oliver finished fifth in the popular vote with 0.4% and 650,126 votes.

Given the racial and other demographics of the general election in 2024, the problem goes way beyond white supremacy. Trump nearly doubled his support among Black voters between 2020 and 2024. Educated people regardless of race remained more anti-trump. Racism is def part of the problem but not the only problem.

You’re discounting the fact that Hispanics and blacks can also be racists.

It’s been discussed here on this board and in many other (more respectable, lol) media that Cubans in FL are disposed to hate Venezuelans, Mexicans, Salvadorans, Hondurans, etc. Cubans often think of themselves as superior to the riffraff from those other countries. And Cubans largely supported Trump as a result.

Same with black voters who went for Trump. In addition to the cultural conservatism (eg, anti-gay) inherent in some areas of black culture, there’s also an aspect that they, too, are superior to those crazy invading hordes from Latin America.

My argument is about white supremacy, not racism.
Headcount of white supremacists has probably gone up since 2016 due to people like Fuentes, Charlie Kirk, the politicians and maga media-faces, etc. But how we got from tea-party to here or from 2020 to here I don't think is largely due believers of white supremacy.

To be clear, you mentioned the uptick in black support for Trump. And the uptick in Hispanic support for Trump can’t be denied.

I think you’re overestimating the relative impact of white male voters (who’ve largely voted R for decades) versus the much more noticeable shift among black male voters and Cuban voters in key states who trended toward Trump.

Each of these is due in large part to racism, cultural prejudice, and/or xenophobia.

Yea, there are obviously other factors. But it’s difficult to deny that “immigration” was a significant factor among white, Hispanic, and black populations that voted for Trump. And “immigration” is just a code word for racism/xenophobia.

Black ppl can be and are white supremacists too.

Black ppl can be frothing at the mouth racists towards Asians and Hispanics and suck upon the teet of the supremacy.

There are legit awesome Black ppl that have had to deconstruct from white supremacy.

White supremacy is a conman being elected and leading us to hell. White supremacy is mainstream. White supremacy is all these Africans, Hispanics, and the mass of immigrants coming to America sht talking Black Americans because they don't comply.

The American dream is proximity to the most decadent and toxic aspects of white mediocrity.

That mostly makes sense, but did something recently increase the headcount of people with these persuasions? This thread is about how we got here.

(I think of white supremacy as the belief that Caucasians are better than all other races. Is "white proximity" among non-whites for sake of things like conformance, safety, or power a symptom of white supremacy or just a symptom of systematic racism due our country's history?)

MAGA/Trump has invigorated neo-nazis, but I feel the "deeply racist" (including supremacists) person headcount hasn't increased despite those people just being louder and more blatant or validated (by maga).
There could easily have been "conversion' of non-racists into racists due to rhetoric from Trump and co, but I feel our society is actually becoming more accepting despite extremes at the edges.

But don't these things "racism, cultural prejudice, and/or xenophobia" exist without white supremacy (belief that Caucasians are better than all races)? Those exist horrifically in non-white countries and cultures (which can be imported via immigration, then persist). I have immigrant friends who came to america afraid of black people initially due to something unrelated to white supremacy.

Without question.

Again, my point is that you seem to conflate the two (white supremacy and racism) in your initial post—you mentioned the uptick in black support for Trump, and you clearly articulated in your last sentence of that post that “racism is part of the problem”.

I’m simply pointing out that racism was a larger “part of the problem” than you seem to acknowledge, and that it wasn’t restricted to white supremacy…instead it was pervasive among all Trump voters.

Two out of three are endemic but scientific racism is pretty much inspired by Western thought. You can thank those French surrender monkeys Jean Calvin, a lawyer looking for loopholes in the Bible for his popularization of predestination and spiritual elite, Arthur de Gobineau ,ɔbiJoseph Arthur de Gobineau; 14 July 1816 – 13 October 1882) was a French writer and diplomat who is best known for helping introduce scientific race theory and "racial demography", and for developing the theory of the Aryan master race and Nordicism. He was an elitist who, in the immediate aftermath of the Revolutions of 1848, wrote An Essay on the Inequality of the Human Races and current favorite Renaud Camus who came up with the Great Replacement Theory.

Xenophobia is about nationality or cultural background, not race. And i don't correlate cultural prejudice with white supremacy either since people can have cultural and racial prejudice without believing in racial superiority. And racism is everywhere - go to any non-white country that doesn't have much of a "melting pot".

Yes, racism is endemic everywhere because the the colonial cultures that dominated so much of the world used it as a measuring stick. It's as much a learned behavior as speaking English.
