In high school we had a talent show, and a band sang this song. The lead singer went on to play in Don Williams' band and wrote a hit song " Tulsa Time " which was an ACM Award winner later covered by Eric Clapton. Here is a good version

I just talked to my friend and you are correct. They did call themselves the Rogues when they played that talent show in high school and changed their name to the Madisons after Danny quit and left town after high school.In high school the name of Danny's band when it played in the talent show was The Rogues
