Bruce Springsteen turns 75 years old on Monday, Sept. 23rd . . . Happy Birthday to The Boss.
I was one of his early fans long before his awesome album Born to Run was released. I saw him in concert in December 1975 at Georgetown University's McDonough Arena . .
The Wild, the Innocent & the E street shuffle was a massive favorite of mine.

Darkness was a big fave of mine . . after Born to Run, IMO, it is his greatest.

Neat seeing David Olney mentioned here. I got to know him a little in the 1990s and after. He was a friend of my music journalist pal, the late Peter Cooper. Peter and I used to live together in Spartanburg, before he moved to Nashville as a writer, and David stayed with us once. Really cool guy.
On Friday, I went up to Asheville and saw the Dbs. So great. I don't go all the way back to the 80s with them, though I think a much hipper friend tried in those years to introduce me to their music. It kind of clicked for me much later. In any case, they put on a really excellent show.

One of the things I've prioritized since the pandemic is live music, and thanks to where I live I get a lot of opportunities for great shows. In the past few years I've gotten to see Lucy Dacus, Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse, Lera Lynn, Cold War Kids, Phantogram, Queens of the Stone Age, Andrew Bird, Nickel Creek, The Airborne Toxic Event, The Crane Wives, Orville Peck, Murder by Death, Sylvan Esso, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Metric, and I am going to see Mother Mother in a few weeks.
Downside is I've missed as many shows that I would've liked to see, but I'm not complaining.

Bright Eyes has a new one out. Haven’t heard the whole thing yet.
