love Chet BakerChet Baker is one of my all time favorites on two levels: trumpeter
AND vocals. The dude was so tasteful, lyrical and on point capturing the mood and feel of every tune he played, or song he sang. And quite often, he’d do both on the same piece.
Like Jimi, Buddy, Janis, Jim, Duane… it’s a long list… Chet left us too soon
I didn’t mean to imply Chet left us as a younger man, like the others, as Chet got his start in the mid-1950’s and passed in 1988…. So he had a much longer life and career than say Jimi, Duane or Ritchie Valens. But it was still a shame he died when he did. Without his addiction he may have lived and played well into the 90’s.love Chet Baker
My favorite Chet Baker CD is "The Last Great Concert"

In 1989, I went by the hotel in Amsterdam where he died.
I also “partied” on Jim Morrison’s grave site in Paris in 1985. That was - and probably still is - a “thing”. Smoke some hashish and drink a bottle of red wine with Jim.
The Last Concert occurred two weeks before his death. The concert was suppose to be the beginning of his comeback. His death remains a mystery. The rumor is he committed suicide, but friends believe he was killed resulting from a robbery.I didn’t mean to imply Chet left us as a younger man, like the others, as Chet got his start in the mid-1950’s and passed in 1988…. Yeah, I heard suicide, or overdose, or drug deal gone bad, or whatever. The Last Concert occurred two weeks before his death. The concert was suppose to be the beginning of his comeback. I spent many a good night listening to Mike Cross at the Endangered Species and The Cave
Sounds a lot like it. There was 2-4 years that I was in the Cave virtually every day. I was a regular on the dart boards, the pool table and most often the bridge table. If you remember a guy who through darts like a baseball, that was me.Have a feeling 3 of us may have crossed paths in the days of yore.
Wasn't a regular but shot some pool and threw darts on occasion. Was a comforting place especially on rainy weeknights when it wasn't jamned with folks for a show.Sounds a lot like it. Sorry to hear about Dale. He was a crusty cranky soul but in a good and fun way. He and I had a teasing back and forth relationship that bordered on a love/hate relationshipThen we almost had to have been there at the same time at some point. I worked the door at the Cave for a lot of those shows. I good friend of mine , Dale White, owned the Species and I went there a lot.
Btw, Dale just died about 6 weeks ago.
