Well, guess the NAM was right in this one being more sleet than snow for most folks in NC. It was nice to see snow again after almost 3 years without it. It's pretty much all melted here. Maybe we can get a big one before winter ends.

We got about 3 inches of mostly snow with some sleet. Kids are still doing some sledding so while not as good as I had hoped not a total bust either. Was down to the last two in my poker game and pushed all in with pocket aces and got beat by a flush on the river.

Roads in Orange County are still messy in shaded spots.

I see the forecasts are starting to work in a better snow chance for the 20th

Euro is usually considered the best one to sniff out potential storms in the long range. GFS runs just came in with the same storm. Not as huge amounts as the Euro but still a huge storm. It's a coastal bomb like the Jamuary 2000 storm and around the same time as when that one happened. GFS has at least 20 hours of snow for the Triangle.

The models have been showing a big storm around 1/22 to 1/23 for the past few days. The Euro and GFS have both had runs showing the storm. The last GFS run had this.

Yikes. That might be a little too big for my taste. No question it's gonna be cold as hell next week.

We've already had three days of "remote school" (Friday, Monday, Tuesday) off of like 2.3 inches of snow in Greensboro. Lord knows how long we'd be out of school if that happened.

Forsyth County has just been out (not virtual) for all those days because we don’t have enough chromebooks to go around. Last full week of school was almost a month ago. My kids are tired of each other and of us 😂

Even if this weather system doesn't materialize we may well see school delays in central NC next week due to the very cold temps. Currently projected low temperatures of 12 on Tuesday and 16 on Wednesday. Not a lot of people in NC (outside of the mountains) are really prepared to be outside in those temps.
