On the "win" front, I will say that I have no problem with the arrests and deportations of illegals, especially those who have committed crimes. And I question why the Biden administration couldn't have done the same. There's no good reason for these people to be here. Sorry if that makes me a bad person for saying that.
US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) statistics show Biden oversaw 1.3 million more deportations during his first two years in office than Trump achieved during his entire first term. Obama also deported 30,000 more than Trump during his first four years.

I would add that Trump's tariff threat has encouraged anticipatory price increases and has heightened uncertainty in the stock and bond markets.
And also making trading partner look for other business partners to do business with.
But I’ll wait until this happens before giving the L.

As a reminder, the above is what happened to our farmers the last time Trump did his stupid tariff stunt. They still have not gotten those markets back (and taxpayers had to bail them out numerous times so they would continue to vote for Trump).
So, L for Trump that started in the first term that continues today.

These guys are really struggling to find any W’s for Trump.

Completely agree with you. Deport any illegal immigrants who commit crimes, post haste. No argument from me whatsoever there. I'm almost certain that the Biden administration did just that, as well. I just wish we'd leave the folks alone who are here to work hard, who pay taxes (and receive virtually no benefit from paying taxes by virtue of being non-citizens), and who comprise the backbone of our economy by doing a whole lot of important jobs that most of the rest of us don't want to do.
I’m not in favor of deporting violent criminals. If they’re convicted of crime(s) in the United States, I want them incarcerated here. I want them serving their sentences here.

I don’t trust a lot of countries to incarcerate people guilty of crimes in the United States.

Deport them after they’ve served their sentences.

I have no issue with it either.
But I’m pretty sure that this happened under the Biden administration as well.
Since it was reported that there were over 120 plane flights returning people to Colombia just last year, it's clear that it was happening. I doubt that Colombia was the only one as well.

After, since there is still fewer illegals than back in 2007, something must be happening. They're either becoming legal or going back.

What personal experience I have, which is pretty limited, is that there used to be a fair number that would come here and work long enough to build up a decent stake to get a good start when they went back home. They weren't that excited about being away from friends, family and culture but they liked having a job and making more money than they could make at home.

Not only did every person who was here illegally get deported after being convicted of crimes and serving their sentence during the Biden administration (and most likely every presidential administration in my lifetime of nearly 50 years), but also those who were here illegally and were acquitted or had their cases dismissed were deported and those who were here legally and convicted of deportable offenses were also deported.

Great point. Hadn't thought about it like that. That's an interesting point worth considering for sure.

You would too if faced with a conviction rate of 97.3% in the DC circuit for J6 defendants and face the possibility of even greater prison sentences.

You guys have a bind spot for a number of the J6ers who literally walked into the Capital for a few minutes; destroyed nothing; and then left. Regular folks who faced the substantial weight of the FBI and DOJ in pursing felony charges - and improper charges in the case of 8 USC 1512. You only focus on the cop beaters which virtually no one defends.
Well, except the leader of the free world.

Right. So far at least, deportation numbers are not much different than under Biden. And while daily arrests are up a bit, the arrests of people with criminal records are fairly steady.

Blanket pardoning wasn’t just bad but terrible.
Comments on plane crash stupid

The rest some disagreement except for Lumbee recognition
We need a tread to follow those j6ers who were pardoned. So far one is dead (altercation with police), at least one is back in jail on new charges, and a couple are wanted for soliciting sex from underage girls.

Agree with the Lumbee Indians.

Please share you disagreements in more detail.

We could even extend this to first term. From my understanding his changes to NAFTA were positive?

If I recall correctly the Federal Reserve, with the Chairman he appointed, raised rates because he saw the direction the economy was going. But didn't they slow the increase when the markets dropped?

Are we allowed to fact-check claims of good stuff. Because he fell well short of actually recognizing the Lumbees. The White House memo describes the EO as follows:
  • It directs the Secretary of the Interior to submit a plan to assist the Lumbee Tribe in obtaining full federal recognition through legislation or other available mechanisms, including the right to receive full federal benefits.
Isn't it still a step in the right direction?

Yeah, they definitely need to serve their sentences. Otherwise, immediate deportation is like a get-out-of-jail-free card. I have a number of clients who ask if they can avoid serving a sentence by agreeing to immediate deportation. That’s not an option and shouldn’t be.

Interesting. Hard to disagree with this. Except that we're then paying for these criminals to be incarcerated. (Guetmo?) But I agree that letting them go—and potentially find their way back here—is probably worse.

So far, even being inclusive of the board MAGA's entries on this thread, there really seems to be a serious lack of actual "wins" for this new Trump administration. But watch five minutes of Fox News and you'd think he's had the best first two weeks of any president in US history. In reality, this should raise all kinds of red flags for Fox-faithful board MAGAs. Will it?

he’s only ten days in. Realistically, I wouldn’t expect too many wins, if any.
What is truly astounding is how many losses he has piled up in that time.

Yeah. I will say, I started the thread as an attempted goodwill gesture to give Trump supporters or ideological conservatives a thread in which we could actually try to analyze and discuss the merits and demerits of Trump administration policy. It’s no secret or surprise that the overwhelming majority of this board community does not like Donald Trump, but I thought it would perhaps be helpful for there to be a specific thread discussing policies.

As far as the current performance of Trump 2.0, I can’t imagine anyone other than the true dyed in the wool MAGAs believe that these first two weeks have been anything good. Trump has already badly bungled the first crisis of his second presidency.

I know you started this in goodwill and I thought that was cool. What I quickly realized however is how well this thread may actually hold feet to fire when it comes to MAGA claims of Trump's positive impact. The fact that there's an obvious underwhelming number of actual wins being recorded by our board MAGAs here is so very telling. Delicious, even.
