Joe Rogan and his followers are the most intellectually lazy cohort on the internet. They instinctively take contrarian viewpoints and think it makes them great free thinkers. They believe that anyone who has a consistent set of ideologies is a sheep controlled by party dogma. It never occurred to them that the party orthodoxy is what it is because that's what the people demand and not vice versa. The fact that you think this random dude off the street who has no expertise in any relevant field is a great pundit is extremely telling.
I just think the exact opposite. I honestly think the partisans on either side are the folks that are intellectually lazy. And I say that as someone who used to be one.

Folks willing to take a contrarian view are almost by definition able to think for themselves. I agree with a lot of the democratic party platform but I certainly don't agree with all of it. And by the same token I vehemently disagree with a lot of Trump policies but I like a few of them.

Bc you aren’t anti social. Bc you don’t center your self worth on attention and manipulation, at any cost.
Maybe Finesse likes to talk with people that agree with him so that he feels smarter. Maybe he likes attacking people that disagree with him instead of discussing it like adults. Maybe a bit of both. Some people are like that. If he's happy, I say go ahead. Doesn't bother me.

Which ones do you like?

By definition, contrarians do not think for themselves. They see what other people are saying, and then they say the opposite. And they come up with bullshit that doesn't make much sense and has even less empirical accuracy to justify the stance that others gave them.

I like The Doge program. I hope the cuts keep coming and I hope they continue to point out some of these ridiculous programs that we're paying for with the hope that the executive branch and Congress will treat our tax money with a lot more care in the future.
doge may be good in theory but the current motivation isn’t what you want it to be.

A hard look at spending, staffing, processes, etc. as the Clinton Administration did in the 1990’s is logical.

The chaos of DOGE is not; but, the chaos of DOGE is the purpose. A systematic, careful examination of the federal government is not what DOGE or Project 2025 is.

DOGE and Project 2025 are to BREAK government.

What cuts in spending would you make? What waste would you get rid of?

I don’t know enough about the specifics of government spending to identify any spending as “waste” or “fraud.”

I’d increase spending on inspectors general to better examine spending and processes by department/agency. Let them recommend spending and staff cuts.

I’d hire a ton more IRS agents to audit taxes and to clamp down on tax cheats.

They are making sweeping indiscriminate cuts that make no sense. You must be out of your fucking mind. One day, these sweeping cuts are going to impact you in a crucial way and you are going to change your tune.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by bad faith but I'll try to interpret. I honestly think that going on an interview style program where the interviewer can ask questions to challenge Musk is a bit more helpful to understand his actions and more difficult for Musk than just tweeting.

And I really don't think Musk is speaking in hypotheticals as much as he's generalizing the scope of some of the problems. He's also put up his wall of receipts of real cuts he's making for people to examine and criticize. This is in contrast to someone like Trump who just says there's fraud and waste and we're going to get rid of it.
You mean like the receipt for 8 billion that was off by several decimal places?

If the ones we have now couldn't do there job there in lies the problem. We don't need more bureaucracy. Since you don't know enough you're not qualified to have opinions on Doge.

You feel like you know enough about each of the departments and programs cut that you support it?

Or do you just reflexively trust Elon's judgment?

Maybe they couldn't do their job because there wasn't enough of them. And I guess you know enough to be all in on what DOGE is doing, even though Trump and Musk have offered no evidence at all to support the crap they are doing to the country and ruining lives by freezing the money and people losing their jobs.
