I'm sure that will go well.

Probably because anyone can look and see where the current system has gotten us. Exactly how much de we spend per student in this county? How does number that compare to what the rest of the world spends? And where exactly does this country rank in the world with regards student performance? How is none of this setting off major alarms within both parties? I guaran-cotdamn-tee you if this was a Dem thing, the 25th would be invoked by now. What the actual phuck.
You're making the assertion. You provide the numbers to support what you're trying to sell. I don't think you have them.Probably because anyone can look and see where the current system has gotten us. Exactly how much de we spend per student in this county? Look up those answers and it might enlighten you as to why the country isn't in full meltdown about replacing the current system.
The problem with the current system isn't the federal government. It's the states. Your team wants to "return" control to the very entities that are responsible for American education being sucky.Probably because anyone can look and see where the current system has gotten us. I have zero doubt that "turning the money over to NC" would end up pouring it into Charters, Catholic Schools, Baptist white kid schools etcReturning all control to the states will simply recreate the conditions that led to the abysmal public school systems in the southern states, and the result will be predictable.
Well, it certainly will if the GOP gets its hand on the superintendent position -- but the legislature obviously can do a lot of damage. I would also imagine that the degradation of textbook quality in the south would accelerate. More removals of Cesar Chavez figures, and more inclusions of Sean Hannity figures (to take one actual, real life proposed curriculum change in Texas, IIRC -- don't remember if it went through or not).I have zero doubt that "turning the money over to NC" would end up pouring it into Charters, Catholic Schools, Baptist white kid schools etc
Always a "Why don't you just . . ." guy. Doesn't know what the Department of Education does; has zero experience with it; knows precisely how to fix it and knows that it's not necessary.Any handing out of money that is truly necessary can be handled by another department. One has been mentioned, but I don't recall the name.
If you misspell the word "department" you probably don't need to be celebrating the demise of the one devoted to education...
I mean, I got the details of what it does from their site, so I have some idea what they do.Always a "Why don't you just . . ." guy. Doesn't know what the Department of Education does; has zero experience with it; knows precisely how to fix it and knows that it's not necessary.
From the Ed.gov site, the role that DoEd has as it relates to students:"Handing out money" isn't the sole purpose of the Department of Education

Many years ago a friend who taught social science in a county down east sonehow ended up teaching an industrial arts class even though he was not the most "handy" guy. That first semester turned him on to how the many "bad" kids really got off on this stuff. Won't go into detail but he ended up in charge of the county's industrial arts programs. Fought hard for funds, etc. Said a good third if not more of the kids in high school should and would have taken more courses if there was the opportunity. What about the Carl Perkins Act? Who’s going to manage that?
It was just re-upped in 2018, under Trump’s first merry-go-round.
Perkins is some serious pot o’ money. All of that goes to all the middle and high schools for all kinds of hands on learning: shop class, home Ec., Robotics, Carpentry, Masonry, welding, nursing, business classes, computer classes, auto mechanics, drafting, mechatronics, electronics, Culinary Arts, Fashion design, Interior Design, internships, apprenticeships, etc. . The list of very important classes that teach real-world skills hangs in the balance of Perkins.
Bubba-Maga loves him some of those classes. They’re the only reason he stayed in school
Is trump going to steal that money and let those classes die on the vine?
Fuck Trump!
