Pretty certain it’s the replacement for HUM-V’s that were getting blown to shit in Iraq…..I think MRAP’s have replaced HUM-V’s for units that expect to be in combat. So, many National Guard units have MRAP’s.
More that they don't have anything else to do with them. "If all you've got is a hammer...". The National Guard and police departments got stuck with them because they were flashy and not very versatile so someone unlikely to need them regularly gets them foisted on them.

What do these arguments have to do with Trump taking over law enforcement in DC?
Talking about how Trump was wasting my taxes by having the National Guard in DC…The government has been wasting my taxes for years and this is just a few examples…

More good use of my tax money…

    • $20 million for a new Sesame Street show in Iraq: This project aimed to promote inclusion, mutual respect, and understanding across ethnic, religious, and sectarian groups.
    • $6 million to promote tourism in Egypt:This project was part of a broader effort to boost economic development and support sustainable tourism.
    • $2 million for transgender surgeries and care in Guatemala: This was part of a broader effort to promote human rights and healthcare access.
    • $87.9 million to help Afghans farm poppy: This project, while controversial, was intended to provide alternative livelihoods to farmers who traditionally grow poppy, the plant used to make opium.
Wouldn't the money to upgrade the "donated" Air Force One pay for all this and have money left over?

My murder clients tend to schedule their murders every other week and usually take a couple weeks off around the winter holidays.
Damn. Now I understand why mine claimed Labor Day, Columbus Day, Black Friday, and Hanukkah. Although I still can't figure out why my Capitol Police client decided to cap a chick on Jan 6, 2021.

But regardless, the coordination of our homicidal clients definitely helps me understand why Trump is spending tens of millions of dollars to send US troops to patrol areas where the worst crime is the occasional theft of a POW flag from the kiosk near the Lincoln Memorial.

Not to me. I don't care at all. Just saying, if I go to someone's house and they have a rule about no shoes, then I don't wear shoes - even if I think it is a dumb rule.
Ok, here is where I have to comment. It isnt her house. She is a mod and does yeoman's work. However, she does have her own opinions and is free to express them. She's far from the only one

Actually, you were justifying Trump's waste of tax dollars and then posted those items to distract from Trump's waste.

If I agree that many of those expenditures are wasteful, will you agree that Trump's mess is often orders of magnitude more wasteful? While you think on that, id point you to a plane that we are going to spend more than a Billion dollars on simply because he personally likes it...not because it is needed.

This might blow your mind, but you can't always judge the wisdom of spending by looking at a single line description stripped from context.

For instance, I'm pretty sure UNC recruited both Mario Chalmers and Carlos Boozer. Doing so would have necessitated a trip to Alaska. And someone like you might look at some records and say, "why the hell are my tax dollars going to fly Roy Williams to Alaska???!?1/"

The way USAID works is to partner with local communities to advance projects of interest to them; that's how we make friends and develop good will abroad. It isn't for you to judge what's good for Guatemala.

In any event, "your" tax dollars are not going to that at all. People who complain about how "their" tax dollars are being wasted are just people who don't understand how public finance works.

Thank you. Completely agree. Don’t really understand how it wasn’t very plainly clear that I was making a tongue in cheek comment to follow up the one I had made immediately above it. As I said, I can assure everyone here that if I wanted to wish death on someone, nobody would have any question as to whether I had done so.

Keep telling me how to think and live my life I appreciate it…

You don’t get it…The government has been wasting money on bullshit long before Trump…Nothing has changed Trump is just the new figure head…

Trump has been receiving thank you phone calls from people who hadn’t been out to a restaurant in literally four years.

I think he is calling out the implicit claim in your praise of Trump's DC policy that the military presence prevented murders in DC since there were no murders that week.

There are pretty substantial proof problems in that statement even in the best of circumstances, but the only way there is any grounds to make it would be if murders in DC were evenly spaced and occur every week with regularity.
I wouldn't call it praise, but it's shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that a heavy law enforcement presence would result in a decrease in crime.

A "decrease" from "barely any ever" to "zero for a week" isn't really a decrease. It's the law of averages.

Second, you conveniently forgot to talk about the rise in kidnappings over the last week by masked thugs. Surely, that counts as crime, yes?

I think of it as Rock's house and NYCfan as the property manager.
