Except for Insider Advantage, which showed a surge of approval to 54%, Trump is below water overall but his best two issues in good and bad overall polling are handling of crime and immigration…
Yeah but, both of those areas he’s still underwater. When your two historically strongest issues turn into weaknesses, it’s not good.

Did you read all the links. The federal government isn’t patrolling in the crime areas and crime isn’t going down in the crime areas. The DC cops are making arrests, like they always do, in the crime areas and Baghdad Barbie is citing those arrest stats to refute the criticism that Trump is only patrolling the tourists areas.

Trump does not care about crime in DC. He just cares about showing feds on the streets of the tourist areas for the TV cameras.
I didn't realize there were two links.

Neither one, to me, seems to definitively state that 7 and 8 are being ignored or that there's a real issue.

There are three links. Keep clicking.

And wards 7 and 8 are being ignored. If you can find even one link showing the feds in ward 7 and 8, and not just the tourist areas, please share.

Here is a money quote from the first link I posted:

We have National Guard standing down on the National Mall, standing around doing absolutely nothing. Couldn’t those resources be better served [by] cleaning up communities like this? People who are asking, who are screaming, need the help, especially in a school zone,” said Davis.

So of those 10 states, 7 are deep red Trump Country, 1 (Georgia) is purple, and only 2 are blue (Maryland and New Mexico). And 4 of the top 5 are heavily MAGA. No surprises there.
I’m not one to defend MAGA but there is something else that most of those states have in common that is likely the reason for their murder rates.

Having a higher proportion of African-Americans results in more murders?
Yes. Statistically, African-American males commit murder at a much higher rate than any other demographic in this country. Roughly 7% of the population accounts for nearly half of all homicides.

Could that be related to poverty rates rather than race?

Generally speaking, higher rates of poverty = higher rates of unemployment, violence, drug abuse, lower educational attainment, and a whole bunch of other negative effects.

Given that black folks are historically among the most poverty stricken, it stands to reason that their communities would show a disproportionate impact.

I'm assuming the "something else" is that they have high black populations. The problem with that stereotype is that there is data showing that it's violence by Southern whites that has led to the South having a higher crime rate than the rest of the nation.

From the conclusion of a study by the Southern Medical Journal: "The overall high homicide rates in the southern United States were attributable to relatively higher NHW (Non-Hispanic Whites) rates than those found in the rest of the country."

So does that mean having a higher percentage of African-Americans in an area will cause a higher murder rate in that area? Or are there possibly other factors at play?

It’s true but in the study link even in the South, where we have significantly more murders by “non-Hispanic whites (NHW)” than the rest of the country, the murder rate for “non-Hispanic blacks and African Americans (NHB)” of 18.7 per 100,000 was still substantially higher than among NHW of 7.6 per 100,000.

Here is one theory about why that gap might be persistent generally for gun homicide, even when adjusting for socioeconomic status (but not specific to the South):

Another study with a lot of data but parsing it differently to try to determine disproportionate impacts even given different rates of murder and suicide:

Nah.

It’s because they’re black.
