He IS underqualified for the role. You may not care - and that's fine. But it's an important position that could have ramifications for the entire military. And when you combine this underqualified JOINT CHIEFS CHAIR with our Fox New weekend anchor host SecDef and the proposed 8% budget cuts - it is a bit terrifying what state our military might be in by 2029. As others have asked - why not find someone who really IS qualified and also follows your own political and geopolitical world view? The only answer is that makes sense is that an underqualified person is easier to mold and manipulate.
He doesn't meet the stated qualifications but he is qualified. Again, Trump, and his supporters, see the mess we're already in by those who are supposedly qualified. The left has zero basis, none, seeking qualified individuals when you base everything on race and gender. An "underqualified" person doesn't make them easier to mold. You guys will ramble about anything trying to sound smart but lack basic reasoning and common sense. You're trying too hard to diminish everything Trump does. Take a deep breath.

No one in the military has based “everything on race and gender” - don’t be a fool. And what mess? What are you fucking talking about?
I was referencing the lefts ability to judge people by race and gender. And yes the military has DEI initiatives.
The mess being low levels of recruitment, dei initiatives affecting mission readiness, transgenders and mission readiness, the Afghanistan withdrawal, the benghazi mishap, endless money to Ukraine, service members being discharged for not receiving a vaccine, not a peep from the left though, they're worried about Trump firing a few people.

Benghazi?

Please provide one example where “DEI” affected “mission readiness” - thanks.

I just think this whole fucking DEI shrieking is nonsense and low info Americans are falling for it. I would really like to see a few examples where an unqualified person was hired due to DEI and that unqualified person caused a catastrophe or a major issue in a public or private institution.

The Afghanistan withdrawal that Trump committed us to in his first term? The service members being discharged for not following a lawful order? The money to our ally that is dramatically weakening our biggest geopolitical rival without a single American life being lost? Man, y'all really are a bunch of snowflakes.

Whats wrong with his qualifications?
He literally does not meet the legal qualifications in the statute that creates the position and requires a waiver. The statute requires the person appointed have served either as the Deputy Chairman, as the Chief of Staff of their branch, or as a joint unified combatant commander (commander for an entire theater like INDOPACOM, CENTCOM, EUCOM, etc.). He has not held any of those positions, and as a 3 star hasn’t ever even been close to holding them. This isn’t just an argument about subjective qualifications, the guy legally requires a waiver because he fails to meet statutory qualifications. He also subjectively is unqualified. No 3 Star is anywhere near ready to be chairman, much less one that has been retired and is out on the golf course.
