You have a sad little existence
Au contraire. Actually having a wonderful time today relaxing at my beach house. Things are looking up for Heels’ bb team and UNC just hired GOAT Belichick!

Trump is on an absolute ROLL. Notice the fun that was had by all at the Army Navy game.

So we know the Congress and the courts will not protect us from the establishment of a fascist "government", and now we have further evidence that the free press 4th estate will not stand in the way.

Our democracy has had a good run. I think our democratic republic has the longest run of Constitutional republics in history...236 years.

I guess it had to end sometime...

I posted this Tytler Cycle illustration a while back, but to your point, it's relevant:

15M settlement says otherwise. No one thinks Trump “raped” Carroll.
So I'd like to clarify something...you purport to be an attorney at a prominent law firm. Yet, you espouse settlement agreements as "saying" something? Have you never in your career had a client pay a settlement to simply make something go away rather than fight what would ultimately prove to be a likely winning argument?

My understanding is this happens all the time as it is cheaper to settle than to go to court, fight, and win.

Think of all the terrible, ineffective, unethical, morally bereft lawyers you’ve encountered in your life and Ramrouser will be much easier to understand.

Whenever I see the ambulance chasing attorneys on TV, I think someone had to be last in their class.

You underestimate the MAGA cult's idolization of Trump.
I believe that is a mistake which is made by many Democrats. Trump had the biggest gains among people of color for a Republican president in decades. It's basically. That is not the results of mega just blindly voting Republican.

A comedian called Puerto Rico a pile of garbage at Trump's biggest campaign event. The entire Democratic machine jumped on it and it didn't matter.

It's not a mistake to say that many of Trump's followers show many of the classic traits of a cult. And while Trump made gains among minorities, the vast majority of his votes still come from white, Evangelical, very socially and culturally conservative rural and suburban people.

After all the votes were in, just how large were those gains? While you're checking, see what the movement with white college educated people was. Neither might not show what the first returns did but they seem like they canceled each other out to an extent.

Yes but 15M + attorney’s fees + public apology is not a nuisance value settlement. ABC’s attorneys knew their client faced major exposure for George’s defamatory statement; hence, the substantial settlement.

"Substantial settlement" JFC  15M is a rounding error to ABC and its parent company, Disney, which brings in nearly $100B a year.

It's becoming increasingly difficult to believe you're an attorney, and that's putting it nicely.

That's exactly what it is to ABC. That would be like me settling a case out of court for 50 dollars.

I’s not just the money. You’re severely damaging the reputation of one of your top news anchors by acknowledging liability. It was not even a confidential settlement. The Trump team likely insisted it be public.

George likely loses his Sunday show over this.

There is definitely a cult following among some Trump supporters. You can usually spot them with their ridiculous flags and hats. However, I think a significant portion of the Democratic Party, and I'm stealing a term from silence of the lambs, wants to paint anyone who voted for Trump as a rube.

That is a major mistake, IMO, and
that perception will probably keep hurting Democrats politicians.

Damaging it for whom? The Trumpista morons who already don't trust mainstream media? Big fucking deal.

They ARE actually damaging their reputation, just not in the way that you think. They are damaging it because they laid down to an adjudicated felon and rapist just so he wouldn't come after them when he took office. They took the coward's way out, which is exactly the kind of thing that needs to take place in a society for authoritarianism to take root.

Their reputation is going to take a hit from the left, not the right.

Never Trumper Bill Kristol is calling the ABC settlement with Trump as an “inflection point” in our politics. Major Media paying damages to a President elect for defamation of one of its main news anchors is a Big Deal. The amount of damages is irrelevant.

Polls show that a large number are the most poorly informed and educated. A large segment of the rest are deluded by religion. Many of the rest are the hucksters that prey on those groups. They're there for the same reason Willy Sutton robbed banks. "That's where the money is." It's less that we think they are rubes and more that they are uncomfortable with reality. Apparently they're the majority of the voters currently. Imo, and I doubt many will disagree, I don't want to appeal to the unthinking. I'd rather educate them than con them. After all, it looks like education is the Republicans' worst enemy.

It’s what actual lawfare looks like.
