“… Ahead of the court’s Oct. 15 rehearing of Louisiana v. Callaisa case that has major implications for the VRA — two voting rights groups are sounding the alarm, warning that eliminating Section 2, a provision that prohibits racial gerrymandering when it dilutes minority voting power, would let Republicans redraw up to 19 House seats to favor the party and crush minority representation in Congress.…”

I think it's basically impossible to sue the president over defamation. The office protects him from consequences, even before the Kangaroo Supreme Court tipped the scales in his favor.
The manufacturer of Tylenol should test this theory.

Land matters more than people and you can't have a functioning democracy anymore.

The Senate is never going blue again.
National extreme gerrymandering and the Voter Rights Act about to be appealed means the House will never go blue again.
The Supreme Court will never be balanced again and have given the executive branch unlimited power.

The American democracy is done. Next step is to suck all the wealth out Russian oligarch style.

Thanks, MAGA.

It’s fucking insane that we’re all witnessing trumps corruption out in the open. The shit we’re not seeing has to be far worse.

Every republican in congress and government pubs in red states see this as well and they are doing everything they can to rig the next election so he can keep this corruption going. Law and order huh?

A handful of pubs sacrificed their careers to call this out. EVERY SINGLE OTHER REPUBLICAN has said fuck yeah, let’s see how far we can take this.

They are moving to conquer the US. They are making their moves. It seems the Supreme Court was the sleeper cell that has finally been activated.

It's notable to me, at least anecdotally, that Pub posters have become extremely scarce on political message boards over the last month or so. Not just here but on other major politics boards as well. I suspect some of them (like maybe Calla) are wavering on their commitment to the party. Many more of them (like Ram and Pandemic) probably like what they're seeing but know it can't be defended, so they're just staying quiet. We still have miles to go, but I'm very curious to see what impact this dynamic has on the midterms. I could easily see a scenario where Dems win the midterms by 8 or 9 points but, because of gerrymandering, still don't win control of the House. That will bring the brokenness of our system into even sharper relief.

There are not going to be midterm elections in any real sense. We are more than a year away from that thats 130% more time than Trump has had back in office. Look where we are today. There is no way that meaningful votes take place in the US next November. Zero chance.

I think there is real reason to be concerned about Trump interfering with the next elections, and potentially a lot of litigation about that coming, but "zero chance" is too aggressive for me.

Yeah, we'll have elections. Gerrymandering will put Dems at an extreme disadvantage and I won't be surprised if there are National Guard troops and ICE agents intimidating voters in a bunch of cities, but we'll have the opportunity to vote. I do worry about Trump leaving in 2029 (if he's still alive then).
