I am getting really annoyed with the international community refusing to stand up to Trump.

We are solely responsible for Trumpism but we need help from the international community and they are way too timid about it.

Look at Trudeau. He staved off tariffs by promising to do less than he was already doing. Ok, great, we all got a laugh out of it but in the meantime Trump got a major PR win. To the only people that matter, he won.

For goodness sakes, stop giving him these little victories.

What would you have him do? It's not his job to hurt the Canadian economy to save us from ourselves.

ETA: you've got bigger fish to fry--not trying to be antagonistic.

And that's why the Germans made the Nazi party illegal. They weren't going to take a chance on democracy imploding again.

Justice Robert Jackson recognized the danger. "The constitution is not a suicide pact," he wrote. Alas.

But JD Vance says that Germany has nothing to fear from a little Nazi party rabble rousing.

The US had their chance to make Trump "illegal," but Merrick Garland sat on his hands for two crucial years.

You're not wrong at all, but there were multiple points of failure in the pursuit to hold Trump accountable to the point where he couldn't hold office again, most notably, the failure of Republicans to convict Trump for his impeachments (lookin' at you, Mitch).

Agreed. All can be true. So much failure and cowardice.

It only took Hitler 53 days in 1933 to dismantle democracy in Germany. JV Vance's chilling choice to meet with neo-Nazis in Germany are a reminder that Trump kept the Hitler playbook by his bedside.

We have to fight back. It is nearly too late. It's 11:59 pm and the nation becomes a pumpkin at midnight.

According to this proposal, Pride flags would be banned from being displayed in public schools and government buildings, while Nazi and Confederate flags could still be permitted for “educational purposes.”

What is truly staggering about all of this is that it is all totally unnecessary. The government was working well before Trump took office, and anyone who believes otherwise isn't in touch with reality. Was it perfect? Of course not - it's never been - but overall it worked pretty well. There is simply no good need for all of these deep cuts and firings and ending research funding. All of this is nothing more than the final stages of the petty and wildly vindictive Trumper vendetta against experts, expertise, mainstream science, the professional classes, college-educated people, and pretty much everything they resent and hate and are jealous of. And that's why so many Trumpers are gloating as of the moment - they love seeing these people suffer and getting hurt. For the base that's what matters. For Elon and Thiel and other wealthy plutocrats this is simply a massive attempt at personal grift and a way to pay for even more tax breaks and control of our society for themselves.

Indeed, it is perplexing that is that Trump ignored the the new administration was starting on Third Base. Again. He could have taken credit for reduced inflation, #1 economy in the world, #1 O&G producers, real wages increasing, best higher education on the planet, best science & technology.

Instead, he BROKE IT.

Trump 2.0 became the Airing of Grievances Tour and Billionaire Bros coup instead.
