I think that would be up to Denmark, as they are the owner of Greenland. And I don't think they have any interest in selling it. I know that probably means nothing to you and your ilk however. Go ahead, try to take it from them. It'll be yet another riveting page in the great MAGA legacy, which future generations of schoolkids will learn about in history class as "the dark days of America."

Petro scored a win for his base (much needed at this point).
Nothing much changed on a material basis. Deporation flights have always taken place.

But the rest of LatAm has noticed. And I suspect the Euros and Asians will take note.
The lesson: America is not your friend.

No one likes a bully. Even allies will be wary.
America First will turn into America Only.
The risk of a global trade war is real.

I will say this again, and it's probably the closest I come to believing in a conspiracy theory: I think this is what a certain group of Trump's new tech allies - in particular Peter Thiel - want. They want a global trade war. They want global conflict (maybe even a global shooting war). They want the devaluation of the dollar and they want the power and prestige of the American government to fall. They want a new world order with technocrats standing above any and every world government. And sowing global distrust, chaos, and disorder is the way they think they can do it.

Trump did not "win" this. He's given the Latin Americans something to rally around in opposition to him and for what? Never before has so little been won and the term "victory" applied. It's like a movie scene where a dejected crowd wills its way to resistance as one person stands up, and another, and another. Lula tells Trump no. Petro tells him no. Sheinbaum tells him no.

The subject matter doesn't matter. Trump just gave Latin American countries the opportunity to publicly communicate with each other, saying in effect "We've got your back against the Americans."

Meanwhile, Trump backed down by allowing no shackling (which was the primary point of conflict) and broadcast to the world that he is scared. Because, deep down, underneath the dementia fog and the residue from a decade of gaslighting everyone including himself, he knows that Americans really don't want to pay more for roses and coffee. Not for his ego. He will never admit it that way, probably not even to himself, but he knows it.

Still think the nominees that will face stiffest opposition are the former Dems. Too easy for the GOP Senators to break ranks on those.
