Thiel isn't a libertarian.
Libertarianism is typically a transitional phase, especially for young men. Thiel is one of the “libertarian-turned-authoritarian techno bros” to quote Jamie Raskin. Most people outgrow their libertarian “idealism” but some become stunted and maintain libertarian leanings deep into adulthood. We see that among a few posters on this very board.

Last week Elon
  • Ignored a desperate plea for help from the mother of his youngest child
  • Ignored a desperate plea for help from the mother of the child he uses as a human shield
  • Called an astronaut a slur for pointing out his obvious lies
  • Called Tom Hanks a pedophile
  • Followed a 17 year old girl "influencer"
I mean, there was more, but that's a busy week for anyone.

Yep. And while Congressional Republicans have stayed mostly silent because of their fear of getting called RINOs by Trump himself and primaried by even more extreme Trumpers with Dear Leader's endorsement, what they have yet to realize is that as more Republicans are hurt by these cuts they won't take their anger out on Dear Leader, they'll take it out on them, likely by just staying home and not voting. Not that many of them will be willing to face Trump's wrath, but they are going to be in a difficult position with their base. Sucks for them, I guess.
If things continue down this slope, it also affects those folks who sat the vote out. Whether "moderate independants", "progressives", or just plain uninterested. Congessional pubs will be in a fix. The Tillis tightrope act will only go so far.

Bump to merge — merged older Operation “Wetback” thread as background to this topic.

How many millions have we spent of border Kabuki? Where is the outrage from resident peddlers of “are you claiming there’s no fraud and inefficiency in the government?!”?

This morning I see MSNBC is moving Symone Sanders and Michael Steele’s show from weekend mornings to 6 pm weekdays (in place of Joy Reid’s show).

I’m a fan of the show, but personally like it on weekend mornings, rather than the 7 pm hour on weekdays. Oh well, it’s a promotion for them.

I have known folks that are on some combo of "govt benefits" that do not work
That continue to exist because of those benefits
I guess we are "culling the herd"????

Update.

May have already been posted, but I'm not up to date on this thread

CDC's "disease detectives" apparently spared in DOGE cuts at health agencies

So everything is fine now that they went back and reversed their decision? How long before these workers get tired of being dehumanized and used as pawns and say fuck you? But keep on posting, as doge has to go back and fix things they are breaking, and pretend that it is okay and things are working as they should. This entire process is instilling fear and distrust in the workforce. It’s counterproductive to their stated goals, but very productive towards their unstated objectives. They really do want to traumatize the workforce. The problem is that if their experiment fails and the best and brightest that were called to public service and the entire research and development apparatus that contributes to our country’s success is cast aside in such a reckless manner it will already be too late.

This. And it boggles my mind the house Pubs here can’t see it.
They can. maga=gop=gqp. Conspiracy theory and authoritarianism, in service to insecurity, has completely deplatformed “reasonable” conservatism. Sure, there’s a one off here and there, but those folks days in the gqp are numbered.

I'm just relaying information. I'm not claiming to predict the future or read anyone's mind.
