I thought the Panama canal was outdated-can't carry modern super ships . Is that true?

So Trump is a man you can never take at his word, correct? I get it, he's all poker-style bluffing and bullshit, saying the most outrageous nonsense, to gain leverage in negotiations with the heads of state/government of other sovereign nations. Is a person with such characteristics a person you would want as President of the USA?

I would suggest that there is an adult way to negotiate with the leaders of other nations which doesn't involve being a shifty, two-faced asshole like Trump.
I would agree that there are other ways to negotiate. That's not the way he does it. While not liking his method is certainly understandable, he should be judged by his effectiveness in the negotiation, not his style.

Of course it would be bad for government efficiency, but they don't really want government to be efficient. They're just going to do this to get more government workers to quit. The more workers they can drive out this way the less they'll have to actually fire. It's similar to what our state legislature is doing to teachers here in NC. Just refuse to give veteran teachers pay raises and gradually make conditions worse and worse by diverting more and more of the public school budget to vouchers and charters and so on, and then settle back and watch as fewer and fewer teachers enter the profession and veteran teachers take early retirement. The more miserable you can make workers, the more of them quit and the worse government services and public ed gets. It's a win-win for them.

Well, duh! You can't make money off public education, and you can't make public schools Christian schools.

What value is it to us?
That’s not the right question. The important question is ā€œwhat value is it to Trump?ā€

I’m sure a tropical country with stretches of beach on both the Caribbean and Pacific coasts presents significant opportunity for Trump family members to swindle developers while licensing the Trump name to adorn new high rise resort properties.

I don't think Hillary's loss is much different than Kamala's loss. I think Hillary lost because the Democratic Party had aligned itself much too closely with the woke / cancel culture/censorship contingency and she did nothing to disavow it. I think Kamala was largely a victim of the same thing. Voters were pushing back against identity politics and trans activism and she did nothing to disavow either of those two things.
As I've said before, everyone has an opinion on why Harris lost and they're all probably right to varying degrees.

ā€œThe people in America voted,ā€ Manchin said. ā€œThey had that opportunity, you know, to vote with Kamala Harris and with Donald Trump. Donald Trump, there’s not much hasn’t been said. You know exactly what you’re getting. He hasn’t made any bones about it.ā€

He added: ā€œYou might say, ā€˜That’s too far right.’ OK. If that’s the case, then why did they go too far right when Kamala was trying to come back to the middle a little bit?ā€

Instead, Manchin blamed Vice President Harris’ loss on her inability to cast herself as a moderate candidate
after championing progressive issues during her first presidential run in 2019.

ā€œIf you try to be somebody you’re not, it’s hard,ā€ Manchin said. He declined to endorse the vice president ahead of the election.

Anybody who considers the left the cancel culture/censorship group is so full of it their eyes are baby shit yellow. No one wants to infringe on real immediate personal freedoms more than Republicans whether it's your medical history, your sex life, your right to read what you want and for no practical reason at all except that they are offended. Well, they're offended if you're not one of them. Then God will forgive them in their version of Christianity.
