When you put people in government who believe stuff like that - and many of the members of the military also believe it - you get the conditions that can create things like this:

There are probably many things that our military/leadership has done that, by today's standards, seem unacceptable. Using nukes, as we did on Japan, being one of them. Even our local law enforcement behaves much, much differently than it would have 50 years ago. I don't think we'll ever know what truly happened at Kent State, and why some of the guardsmen opened fire, but I also believe it's an exception that proves the rule.

Obviously, I could be wrong, but I really don't see even Hegseth, even if ordered by Trump, using the military on US citizens.

Are you prohibited from posting anything but gotcha comments propagated by lefty media? I have watched 90% of the hearing to this point and this is what is chosen to be posted? While not shocked by this, just wondering if the intent is to inform or feed the rabid echo chamber here? Good news, a lot more coming from kirsten gillibrand and elizabeth warren.

I wonder if Ron has considered that Biden did not extend protected status for Venezuelan immigrants? I mean, he may be thrilled, I don’t know.
 
Oh, good, now is the time when the idiots trot out "we can't lower standards" bullshit. Nobody lowered standards. People reviewed the standards to see if they were actually useful, especially in an era of technological change.

This jackass said women have to be able to carry their ruck sack. How many members of the military have to do that? I would guess a small percentage. Two of the four branches never require it. And really, how many women can't meet those standards?

This is just the same bullshit as we always hear from the right-wingers. Lowering standards. These jabronis never stop to consider that a) maybe there are other standards that white men fail at, but have never been considered standards precisely for that reason or b) the "standards" are actually useless, whether because they always were or because of technology.

In particular, I would imagine that women are much less likely to commit gross war crimes than men (and yes, I remember Abu Ghraib). A man who refuses to take war crimes seriously is a man who should never be near the levers of power.

Trump raged about Venezuelan gangs and thus bought the problem. Let's see how he addresses it.
 
Venezuelans will be a massive problem for DeSantis, and to a slightly lesser extent for Trump. From the opposite perspective, it would be as if we had admitted five million Marxists into New York in 1910.
