No, no, and no.

The Communist bit is just a cover to call her a cunt. When one of their brain-dead followers reads that tweet, they aren’t thinking “Yeah man, she’s totally a communist.” They are thinking EXACTLY what they are meant to think about her: She’s a cunt. This is by design.

Giving them cover by insinuating it’s a clever play on the communism angle is the same kind of bullshit sane-washing that the media has been doing for years on Trump’s behalf.

These people are misogynistic scum. Don’t normalize them.

(Apologies for my use of the c-word. It was the best way for me to get my point across regarding the depravity of these people).
*I'm* not giving her cover. I'm simply saying what their "joke" was. There is no "cover" there. The whole point of the "joke" was to make a play on the C-word. I don't think they were trying to hide their intentions.

You don't know women then as well as you should. It is virtually the worst pejorative to sling their way. There will be payback...
It would be an unforced error but I think you are overstating it. Pretty much all women hate being called that but some will sling that slur at other women.

A lot of Trump voting women would approve of it because they think the same about Harris. Harris voting women would get really angry but that wouldn't have much impact on the bigger picture.

Most women who understand the misogyny inherent in a man using that word aren't on the fence. They could lose some swing voters over it but it isn't the game changer that you are implying.

"A lot of Trump voting women would approve of it because they" ... are just fine with him grabbing them by the short hairs. They even have t-shirts. But at this point in the game "... could lose some swing voters..." may be more of a "game changer" than one might think.

Maybe. I know it's a pejorative, but I don't know if pejoratives are as damaging as an entire sentence referring to a whole group of people as garbage. But who knows. It certainly doesn't matter at all.

If Kamala loses (and Congress goes red), and I think she will lose, Democrats have no one to blame but themselves. Yes, the odds always stacked against liberals in this country despite what morons think about our media. But she and her campaign have played into the "economy is terrible" narrative by distancing herself from Biden and not telling Americans honestly how their situation is not unique. It's the result of Covid. Yes, I know Americans are idiots but you could still make the case and show them how well we've done with a universal dilemma. And they simply haven't. So, of course, a good deal of Americans believe the nonsensical Republican narrative.
I do agree with you that the Harris campaign has not touted the record breaking stock market, low unemployment, and America's lower inflation than any other developed country. Trump is running on the lie that the economy is in the dump, when that is not reality. His supporters don't expect or seemingly want reality from him, though.

That's part of the problem and likely one of the reasons the campaign went with other talking points. For whatever reason it's just easier for the entire country to accept that the GOP is better at the economy regardless of data, let alone Trump's supporters who would never believe it.

Another reason not to tout the record breaking stock market is that the voters who benefit from that the most are likely voting for Kamala regardless. Also, they already know the stock market is doing well. Meanwhile, people who don't have money in the stock market probably feel left behind.

This is exactly right. People with whom JD Vance’s lies about $4 eggs are resonating don’t give a shit that my 401k has gone gangbusters the last few years.

The problem is that it was brought up by the campaign and the media dropped the ball. That's a news story and the press are largely the responsible party for hiding this. They didn't have to take sides. They just had to do an honest job. Instead, they stirred the pot for profit. I think we're spoiled by the generation of post WWII reporters whose individual fame gave them more leverage to resist the front office than we see now with the plastic people fronting the current news shows.

Seems like the rot starts at the top. I don't know what recourse we have. Wonder if it's too late for a centrist news source to gain traction among the masses. It would be nice to have someone who would present an unbiased take on the economy and general state of the nation. Don't really believe it could happen. No one really wants to hear they are wrong and the current atmosphere assures that they don't have to.

It would be nice

JD Vance: "I'm so tired of everybody getting so easily offended at everything in this country. I'm over it."

Dude, have you actually met any of your followers? Their default mood across the board is occasionally hostile, but nearly always offended, angry, and aggrieved - for which you and you running mate are largely responsible.

Just more MAGAslighting.
