The Republican retconning of history is a mind-numbing art form.

"Sure, some Jews were gassed during the Holocaust, but until that point, they were fed, clothed, and housed - and at no cost to them. And all were permitted to leave peacefully when the Allied troops arrived."

Again, he can get away with this blatantly contradictory crap because our media is hopelessly broken and won't point out the lies and contradictions, and because his followers simply don't care. They genuinely believe everything that spews from his mouth, no matter how contradictory. If he wins it will be a massive confirmation that a candidate can now say literally anything and get away with it.

Democrats want to ban cows and windows😨

It's almost like he studied the techniques of Goebbels. Just using social media and email instead of the radio.

And our country is just too damned stupid to see it.
More and more, I'm trying to come to grips with the increasing likelihood of another Trump presidency and what that will realistically look like, including extent to which he'll be enabled to carry any of his most outlandish promises.

Trying to convince myself that it can't be as bad as it seems, I guess, but concerned that the Red Wave that didn't materialize in '22 will happen in the swing and red states in '24 with Trump at the top of the ticket. I think the GOP registration numbers across the board are super worrisome. I keep hoping it is just the actual registration catching up with how people have been voting since 2016 rather than a new wave of Trump supporters, but we won't know until we know.

If this racist campaign leads to his election, America should be ashamed and embarrassed. I hope three weeks are enough time for this to register on independents, if not Republicans. If they don't buy it, we were never who we claimed to be.

I think you are also polluted by sacrificing some of your brainpower to pulling Trump stuff to post on here

LOL. And this is the guy that his cult followers actually believe is a business genius who will keep our economy on an even keel. As I've posted before, he's had flunkies run his business and real-estate concerns his whole adult life, while he plays golf and blusters and stays in the media spotlight. He doesn't know a damn thing about tariffs, inflation, or likely just about anything else related to business or financial concerns. Just another example of the yawning gulf between the real-life Donald Trump and the fictional, larger-than-life character that his cult has created around him.

This. I am a big fan of nycfan and appreciate all of the dirty work that she does for this community, but there is absolutely, positively no chance that wading so deeply the cesspool fever swamp that is now Twitter, isn’t directly contributing to her feelings of impending doom and gloom. It’s completely understandable, but it’s also important to recognize that it’s happening.

Trump explains the genius of his tariff plan...

Keep in mind that everything he does is self-centered. He only cares that it sounds pro-American and helps him win the election. He doesn’t actually care about the policy or or who ends up paying for it, because that’s not his problem.

I'm convinced Putin has convinced ttump tariffs are grand, as a component of his "destroy the US from within" long game.
