I think there are a handful of Dems that would be running better than Harris right now. Specifically a certain midwestern governor who doesn’t have the Biden admin’s national baggage.
 
I don't know when the schlong thing happened, but SNL managed to incorporate it into the Weekend Update. Impressive turnaround time.

I really doubt it. As long as you have Trump he is always going to have his cult members that support him due to those reasons I stated. There are some Pubs that have refused to vote for Trump again. I don't think that's because of Harris, but because of how awful and incompetent Trump is. No one the Dems could run would be worse than Trump. It's more about those supporting Trump no matter what for those reasons than who the Dems have running. In other words, I don't thnk any Dem would sway those people from voting Trump. Jesus could be the candidate and those folks would still support Trump.

He has more support now than he did in 2016 or 2020, so I don’t think he’s relying on that core of support exclusively anymore. His winning coalition in 2024 would be much different from his coalition in 2016. Trust polling or don’t, but every poll shows softening support for Dems among working class people of all races. I think there are several aspects that go into that, but Kamala having to defend higher grocery prices and rent doesn’t help her.

A Dem governor (Walz or Whitmer would’ve been my first choices if it was up to me) would get a pass on higher prices from low info voters.

Just my opinion, but I think it’s supported by the publicly available data.
