I can't wait to see what happens but what I won't do is be convinced this is a bad thing by anyone who supported the party who pumped in excess of 10 million people into this county from some or the most dangerous parts of this world completely unvetted? For all any of you know, many of the people who came in were the very same people who made the countries from which they were escaping so dangerous. And now they are here, being protected by the party who welcomed them in with open arm and free everything. And I hope the cops are truly allowed to do their jobs. Oh, I dunno, maybe those pesky stats showing that violent crime is steadily dropping in DC (just confirmed by the White House on your favorite network, Fox News) and to which your response has basically been that you don't care because <something, something> it's still too high in your opinion and Dear Leader's opinion, because as we all know big cities are crime-infested hellholes that can only be saved by sending in the troops. And your only response to a perfectly legitimate question about why, if crime in DC is so bad that Trump needed to act, he didn't do this in his first term has been to basically say that you don't give a damn and maybe I need to write him a letter, which isn't actually debating anything either - it's just ignoring points that are made and using right-wing cliches and stereotypes in response ("Russia, Russia, Russia", seriously?).

To argue against trump's involvement in dc policing based on falling crime statistics is a losing argument to anyone who doesn't have tds. DC is a crime ridden shit hole and has been almost since dc came under dim control back in the 70's. There are logical arguments that can be made against this action by trump based on other criteria, but citing falling crime statistics that are still among the highest in the nation doesn't demonstrate much intellect.

If we're discussing "rampant" crime, why wouldn't crime statistics matter?

You are correct that there are other reasons this shouldn't be happening, but the prevailing argument is that crime is our of control in DC, so where's the evidence to support this?
