Oh, and where are people going to go? Particularly the homeless. Prisons? The streets somewhere else? Suddenly built and staffed mental institutions? Florida Alcatraz? Other countries? Prisons/asylums in other countries? This isn’t a solution. It is a round-up. Not just people who commit crime, but the homeless.

There but by the grace of god go I.

And yes, language like “Unhoused” is stupid, but older generations often find the language of younger generations stupid. And through it all language keeps on evolving.
I, for one, would be more than happy to use the term "homeless" if conservatives would stop trying to remove them to concentration camps.

You could note the steady decline in crime rate over those 50 years but you'd rather believe the lies. It's really not a good look for you.
What's really not a good look is you arguing dc has been successful in any meaningful way at combating crime over the last 50 years.

Trump is acting under the authority given to the President under the DC Home Rule Act. Not a dictator. He must get Congressional approval after 30 days. I’m not understanding the hysteria.

Speaking of hysteria, the DC sandwich slinger has been identified as a DOJ attorney. Bondi just fired him.
At least something good came out of Subway

Doubling down on stupid? Constant improvement is damned sure on the way to success. How can that kind of progress not be meaningful?

lol. I guess your definition of success carries a really low threshold. When your best is still among the worst its kind of hard to celebrate that for anyone other than the people who run the city.

I'm about 99% certain none of the conservatives posting here have ever visited DC.
Been there many, many times going back to high school. Son currently lives there.

What prompts you to say something like that? Conservatives don't travel?

No chance that's true. None.
Agree. No way Trump has "many, many" friends.

However, I have heard similar feedback from other sources. Some Dems are glad.

The natural instinct of many Dems is to oppose most anything Trump does, call it racist, etc. DC is a shitshow of crime and instilling some safety, via a show of force, isn't seen as bad by everyone on the left.

[Reporter: do you have a message for Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and the media who are saying there’s no crime here?]

“It’s another reason why the Democrats lost the election in a landslide, uh [shrug] they lie, they just lie. Look the crime is very bad. I think they’d be much better off saying we wanna help President Trump with the crime because it’s an epidemic … it’s the worst it’s ever been and we wanna help President Trump with the crime as opposed to he’s a dictator he’s a dictat people are so happy to see our military going into DC and getting these thugs out uh as you know we arrested a lot of people yesterday we’re arresting a lot of people today. We’re getting people that have uhhhh arrest records that you wouldn’t believe. 28 arrests 15 arrests brutal brutal people and we’re going to have to do something about this cashless bail [started in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles]

If we didn’t go to Los Angeles to help this incompetent governor and a mayor that doesn’t know what the hell she’s doing if we didn’t go to Los Angeles you wouldn’t have a big part of it burned down the other part of it would of burned down too you wouldn’t have not had uh I don’t think you would have been able to hold to have the Olympics. We have the Olympics. I have a lot at stake with that because I’m the one that got the Olympics I got it in my first term. And I didn’t I was sad because I got it for what would be my third term OK which turned out to be second term. And uh the Olympics it’s a great honor but I felt badly cause I said I won’t be president when the Olympics came. Well through circumstance I am president I wanna make sure the Olympics is great the World Cup is great and that 250 maybe the most important of all is the 250 year celebration is great.

So what’s happening is we will work very hard. You would not have had I don’t believe that if I didn’t send in the troops I don’t think you would’ve had Los Angeles in condition to have the Olympics, I think you woulda had to tell’em I’m sorry you’re going to have to go someplace else …”

These [reporters] need to be identified. I'm guessing that was not from anyone who has done any actual journalism
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough admitted on Wednesday that many Democrats are secretly cheering on President Donald Trump’s federalization of D.C.’s police force in order to crack down on crime.

"So many people have been calling me over the past couple days, going, ‘You know, like, Washington should have gotten involved years ago. This place is dangerous, it’s a mess, it’s a wreck and whatever,’ and then they’ll go on Twitter and go, ‘This is the worst outrage out of all time,’" Scarborough said on "Morning Joe."

"Which I understand, it’s like, people need to express their concerns about Donald Trump going too far," he added. "We saw what happened going back to 2020 with the National Guard, certainly can’t have any repeat of that. Don’t want the federalization of the entire city. But man, I don’t care what the crime statistics say. Crime has been a problem in this city for 32 years."

That's actually really helpful. If you feel unsafe in 90% of DC, that's on you. And if you're in the 10% where you should feel unsafe, I have questions. So what's this performative politics really all about?

“… According to a Justice Department source, Dunn [works in the] Office of International Affairs within the department's Criminal Division. Dunn's LinkedIn page says that he worked as a trial attorney at the department.…”

“… This is an example of the Deep State we have been up against for seven months as we work to refocus DOJ.

You will NOT work in this administration while disrespecting our government and law enforcement“

Deep State is pretty fucking lame if this guy throwing sub sandwiches is the best it can do.

This is so fucking pathetic, calla. Could you please find some pride at some point?

I don't know, maybe ask the head of the dc police union. Or the guy suspended for manipulating serious crime stats.

..."The D.C. police union chief, Gregg Pemberton, cast doubt on the statistics showing a massive drop in crime over a two-year period.

"There's potentially a drop from where we were in 2023. I think that there's a possibility that crime has come down. But the department is reporting that in 2024, crime went down 35% – violent crime – and another 25% through August of this year. That is preposterous to suggest that cumulatively we've seen 60-plus percent drops in violent crime from where we were in ’23, because we're out on the street. We know the calls we're responding to," he told NBC News.

MPD’s 3rd District commander was suspended after MPD said he was changing crime statistics to minimize serious crimes.
