In the mind of MAGA perhaps, where there is no nuance.

The study mentions "demographics" but doesn't factor race per se into the equation. Blacks commit more murders than latinos who commit more murders than whites. I've never seen a study that specifically mentioned asians but I'd guess that's less than whites. If that is true, I would expect states and cities with the highest concentrations of blacks to have a higher murder rate than a city with a less populous black community. Its also common sense that less accountability equals more crime than higher levels of accountability. Again, not mentioned in that article.

That's sort of forcing a square peg in a round hole, in my opinion.

Also, you noted earlier that my opinion was formed by what I consume. Which is true.

But that is true for everyone. The only ones that are a problem, in my opinion, are those that consume nothing and speak from pure ignorance.

I read things across the spectrum, I was burned when I was younger by believe because it fit my worldview, so I make sure to look for opposing information.

I've listened to interviews with noted conservative economist that said the way trump is handling tariffs is bad and the two I've recently listened to were both in support of the use of tariffs, just not how trump is using them. Also listened to an interview today with a, as he described it, constitutional conservative and he was against the approach that trump is taking with the FBI and the Justice department.

And to say that all people who are center to left are just living in an echo chamber is ridiculous. I've listened to multiple liberals that talk about the mistakes the party made and the changes the party needs.

You also mentioned morality earlier. Please explain how a man who's had multiple divorces, cheated on multiple wives, paid for sex, been accused of multiple rapes, been accused of being a pedophile, and the list goes on, is in anyway considered moral?
1. more people should seek opposing views as you do.
2.my comment on the echo chamber applied to this board.
3.I don't believe trump to be a moral person, nor have I ever claimed he was. In fact I'm often on record on this board acknowledging his failed moral state.

I am "believing" that Trump didn't need to be involved because no one in an elected position to speak for the people of DC asked for federal assistance. I think the application of federal force should be based on clear and present danger. I do not think a "police source living it every day" meets that bar. I don't think the available statistics meet that bar, I don't think available facts meet that bar. What's the bar level for you to allow federal force in any town?
Very few people in elected positions ask for help in dealing with rampant crime because it can be seen as an admission of failure. Yes, I'm aware of the New Mexico situation. I think trump is an opportunist that sees a chance to both stroke his ego and drive home the perception that dims are soft on crime to help himself in the mid terms. The bar in dc is so low that he almost can't fail to reduce crime so it will do what he wants it to do. I also think part of the reason he is acting now is to take advantage of the "crime fatigue" that exists in the country driven in part by videos and acts spread across social media. All of those things are smart politics and will help define dims. All of that is one facet of the issue. The other is that, like securing the border, it just isn't that hard of a task to do if you put the people in place and get out of their way, ensure accountability, and get criminals off the street. This is going to be both a political win for trump and a win for dc as crime will go down. Losers will be the dim party as a whole and local dim officials. Maybe this will have an effect on other crime plagued cities to change their policies to those tougher on crime.

From former MAGA/Tea Party member Joe Walsh:

"I’m just so damn pissed off at all the consultants and the Democratic politicians and the Democratic pollsters and all the Democratic talkers and thinkers in the media saying:

“Oh, hey, Democrats. Don’t fight Trump on this crime issue. This is not a good issue for you. The polls say—and all the surveys say—Trump’s strong on crime, and you’re not, Democrats. So don’t fight him on this issue as he puts the fucking military on the streets in another American city for no fucking need.”
All of these Democratic “smart people” are advising Democratic politicians not to fight Trump on crime, to which I say: BULLSHIT. Democrats, fight. Fight Trump on crime like you're learning how to fight him on immigration. Remember? That was another big issue that you weren’t supposed to touch because you didn’t poll real well on the issue of immigration. That was a winning issue for Trump.

Well, guess what? You began to push back on immigration. You began to push back on Trump disappearing people off of our streets…no due process…going into Home Depot parking lots, 7-Eleven parking lots.

And look here: Trump’s numbers on immigration are tanking. You know why, Democrats? Because you finally fucking took that issue on. Do the same thing here with this issue of crime, and Trump putting troops on the streets of D.C. Fight him on this issue!

Fight him on this issue—don’t back down. Don’t listen to the pollsters and the consultants. Most Americans do not want America’s military on the streets. Crime is bad in most American cities.

By the way, Washington, D.C., is the 21st most-violent city in America. Fight back against him with data and crime statistics. Fight back with him. We don’t want the military on our streets. That’s not what we do in America.

My God, Democrats. Fight! Don’t listen to the pollsters and the consultants and back down on another issue where the vast majority of Americans are with you, if you would just stand up and fight. Man, that’s what they wanted you to do with the transgender issue in the 2024 campaign, but you stayed silent.

Immigration and crime: you—we, excuse me—Democrats are a lot closer to where most Americans are than Trump and MAGA is. So fuck the consultants. Fight."

Do you expect the national guard to go into Brentwood without carrying guns?
Well, there is a hell of lot more criming happening in Brentwood than in front of the friggin' Lincoln Memorial or the Reflecting Pool, so I reckon if the object is to "reduce crime" in DC, maybe going into Brentwood, period, would be a good place to start, instead of wasting taxpayer dollars taking selfies with soccer moms chaperoning middle school field trips in front of Honest Abe..
