So no.
So yes.
Also @rodoheel
Yes, I would say that. I would be absolutely shocked if a former member of the military would use the military on the people they've sworn to protect regardless of who requested it.
Also, See Mike Flynn. We literally just watched a former member of the military mow down the very people he was sworn to protect in a staggering act of domestic terrorism. So why would being a former member of the military keep Hegseth from kissing Donald's boots?
It's much more likely that that's EXACTY the reason he's been nominated to such a position that he is so woefully unqualified for. Especially after the months long tirade the president-elect has engaged in. A tirade in which he told anyone who would listen that he plans to weaponize both the DoJ & DoD.
So no.
So yes.
Except he already said he would.
Also, he was asked this during his hearing today and didn’t answer
Except that he's already said that he would and was asked about it at the hearing today. When people tell you that they will do something if they are given the power, it's usually a wise move to believe them. Except that of course you don't, because your whole schtick here has been that Trump 2.0 won't really be that bad, and admitting that this guy might actually do what he's said he would do would ruin that line of argument. There are probably many things that our military/leadership has done that, by today's standards, seem unacceptable. Using nukes, as we did on Japan, being one of them. Even our local law enforcement behaves much, much differently than it would have 50 years ago. I don't think we'll ever know what truly happened at Kent State, and why some of the guardsmen opened fire, but I also believe it's an exception that proves the rule.
Obviously, I could be wrong, but I really don't see even Hegseth, even if ordered by Trump, using the military on US citizens.
Sigh
Sigh
He wasn't performing that act as a military action/command. There's no way to account for mentally unstable people. We literally just watched a former member of the military mow down the very people he was sworn to protect in a staggering act of domestic terrorism. Nice deflection but it doesn’t change the validity of dm92’s point. He wasn't performing that act as a military action/command. There's no way to account for mentally unstable people.
