BTW, for the record -- you see what Trump is doing on tariffs/trade? The Administrative Procedure Act has a set of procedural requirements that must be followed before rulemaking (including rule recission). The tariffs would be invalid otherwise. So he's directing the agencies to "study" the issue, which will then create the factual basis for the policy.

In other words, exactly what Biden did with the immigration order that people complained was too late -- even though it had been in the works for well over a year. Tariffs, though, require less lead time because of the way the law is written.

Trump is apparently choosing not to use the emergency tariff provision of US law. That was the one he was expected to use when he said tariffs on day one.
 
Super - the rule of law isn’t going to stop Trump.
1. The future is not yet written. It might seem that way, but it hasn't happened yet.
2. There are some things that Trump wants to do but can't do without the cooperation of the courts. For instance, he can't enforce invalid rules.
 
No comments on his speech? Personally, while I liked some of the things he said, that wasn't the place to carry out a state of the union speech. It looked bad and wasn't very dignified or presidential. Of course those things don't really apply to trump much. He must be the worst public speaker to ever be potus.
 
From Trump's inaugural address on actions he will take today:

"...First, I will declare a national emergency at our southern border. All illegal entry will immediately be halted and we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came. We will reinstate my Remain in Mexico policy. I will end the practice of catch and release. And I will send troops to the southern border to repel the disastrous invasion of our country.

Under the orders I signed today, we will also be designating the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. And by invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, I will direct our government to use the full and immense power of federal and state law enforcement to eliminate the presence of all foreign gang criminal networks, bringing devastating crime to U.S. soil, including our cities and inner cities.

...We will bring prices down, fill our strategic reserves up again, right to the top, and export American energy all over the world.

Certainly that will lower the price of gas and eggs. And when he renames military installations for dead confederate generals who committed treason against the US, electricity will basically be free again.
Thankfully those woke days are over. At least for the next 4 years.
