Prepare for this pattern to repeat over and over:

1. Trump admin issues executive order/memo/directive that is heavy on rhetoric and bombast and light on details, but appears on its face to be incredibly broad in scope
2. People immediately point out all the critical services and functions that the order would, on its face, prohibit/affect/imperil
3. Trump admin gauges public reaction and says "Well obviously we didn't mean _______ and only an idiot could read it in that way"

The confusion and disorder is, of course, the entire point.
"Look over there!"

"While we provide the grifting payout to the Billionaire Bros." "Oopsie about the Chyna AI thing."

Think the GOP did a masterful job of boxing them in with those subjects...not only during the campaign but the last 4 years. And the Dems took the bait. I remember when they appointed the transgender cabinet member...felt like they wanted to force the dialogue.
Assuming the masses of hindbrain thinkers would appreciate a nuanced response to an outrageous mischaracterization is a trap the left will never tire of falling for.

Eight months severance is a pretty generous offer -- especially by Donald Trump's standards.
Carrot + stick except Trump always plays the stick first. Trump first orders all federal employees back to 5 day in person work followed by an offer for 8 months severance. This will cull the herd of the federal workforce and save 100B.

Sounds like it is going to cost a lot for the first eight months though. What happened to Apprentice Trump?

If they won't follow orders in peacetime, what makes you think they'll follow orders in wartime?
Do we know if any individual person is going to follow orders when they're actually in battle? Not taking a vaccine is far from the only order or rule that is set for military personnel, that is violated. That's why there are so many different levels of punishment. A lot of people defy orders, we just don't hear about them because there's no politics involved

Damn those Republicans to pandering to those snowflakes and making it an issue.

It doesn’t actually appear to be right months’ severance. They would keep working for 8 months and be paid their normal salary.

Do the math for me on how it saves $100 billion?

Also, anyone who thinks the govt can lose a huge percentage of its workforce and still provide the same services and functions it did before is extremely naive.

This plan doesn’t even plan for who is leaving. They don’t know what mix of essential directors or lowly analysts will make up the 10%. Or if it will be 2%. Or 25%.
I guess we will see how it all shakes out but seems like an amateurish way to plan a downsizing.
I imagine those most willing and able to take the severance are the same top/knowledgeable workers who could help drive efficiencies, which I thought was supposed to be the point.
