Because Trump promised them he knew nothing about it. At some point, even Trump's supporters will realize he's a compulsive liar who doesn't give a shit about them. It hasn't happened yet, but given his incredibly low approval ratings, I doubt it will be much longer.
 


He is also there lying about what FEMA has done in Nc and saying the Feds will take care of people now that he is in charge.

Maybe it was my disinterest in the rallies? I know some version of “project 2025 is bad!” was a core talking point, but Merkeley attacking the p2025 ghoul with the Arkansas failures was tangible, involved a slight drilling down, but was overall simple.

Again, maybe it was my campaign diet.

ETA: My 9-12 months includes the current and ongoing messaging, not just campaign.

More importantly, is anyone on this board willing to agree with Trump that it is appropriate to condition federal aid for natural disasters on the recipient state passing completely unrelated laws that the administration (but not the state) wants?

Would it be okay for the next Democratic President to condition hurricane relief for Mississippi on Mississippi passing abortion protections?

We can all agree this is asinine and shameful, can't we? Can't we??

This is already how disaster response works and has worked for 50 years. The states only request federal assistance when a disaster is too destructive for them to handle. He’s a literal complete fucking moron.

I expect it is more likely that Trump and his Administration and its allies (Heritage Foundation, Fox “News”, Hannity, GOP, etc.) want to portray the federal government, especially Biden’s Administration, as grossly incompetent and ineffective; that the Deep State wants to harm the American people, especially those in red areas.

The more “broken” and “corrupt” they portray the federal government, the better for weeding out the “Deep State” and draining “the swamp.”

I’m not disagreeing that he’s a moron and ignorant as hell; but, he and his allies talking points will be “Biden’s government was corrupt and incompetent and giving your money to illegal aliens.”

Unfortunately, federal taxes are collected from individuals and corporations……not from states.
