You are living in a fantasy world if you think there is some mass of highly-paid government workers out there that has been collecting a paycheck for doing no work. I understand that it's sometimes preferable to live in a fantasy world versus reality, but that doesn't make it any more true.

And in any event you never explained how we're going to get to $100 billion in savings. Care to do some back of the envelope math for me? The average federal employee makes like 100k per year. You think we're going to dump a million federal employees? And you think if we did that most government agencies could continue to function? lol
 
Just to be clear, again: I do not read the OMB memo to offer a "buyout" or "severance" to employees where they can quit work and still get paid for up to 8 months of no work. I know that's what media is reporting, but I think they're wrong. They're saying they will continue to pay you your normal salary if you continue to work. They may be intentionally attempting to sow confusion on that point so that employees will think they can quit immediately and get paid for eight months, when in reality they'll just stop paying them if they stop working.

I have read different reports and I was confused on this same point. I mentioned it earlier but then deleted because it isn’t clear (to me, at least).
 
Also think of how dumb ramrouser's logic is. If there are really a bunch of federal employees who are being paid a salary to do yoga and not do any actual work, those people are not going to quit! If they're really getting paid to do nothing, they will continue to do nothing. It's the people who are overworked (doing the actual work) who will take the offer. Brilliant strategy!

Am I watching Twitter and Tik Tok accounts? No, I'm pretty sure that's the President of the United States you're referring to. We'll see how successful they are in "forcing" people to come into work in the office. One thing I can guarantee is a mountain of litigation from severed federal employees who have substantial legal protections against being terminated, especially in such a ham-fisted way.

I also wonder how you think the federal government is going to attract any good employees after this? "Come work for the federal government; we expect you to work harder than private sector employees, with less work flexibility than private sector employees, for less money than private sector employees. And by the way, if you don't kiss the photo of King Trump every morning when you come into the office, you'll be fired for disloyalty" Anyone with a brain can understand that the intent of this isn't to make government more efficient, it's to make the government not function. But the peabrains like you gobble it up, convinced that the important work of the federal government can be done by some dickhead Heritage Foundation wonk, a few janitors, and AI.
 
So any Republican now who believes in Christ and loves this Country is now a ….. queue SCARY music, is now a WHITE NATIONALIST. OMG.
